Gentry Day 2020 - Brentford (18th April) - Confirmed (Remember Online)

Gentry Day 2020 - Brentford (18th April) - Confirmed (Remember Online)

Yeah, the reason for my post was, our club owner had a useless golf course that he'd wanted to build houses on for years but could never get planning permission - so about 4 years ago, he tacked onto the planning application a state-of-the-art training ground for PNE, which the club said was absolutely vital if we were ever to reach the Prem and, at the second attempt, after a very significant campaign by PNE fans (including the owner of this forum) in favour of the development for the sake of PNE, planning permission was granted, with the housing development conditional on also building the training ground.

And the club had assured everyone (prior to PP being granted) that the training ground would be built first, with a summer 2018 opening date projected, interviews in the press with the manager looking forward to it and how important it was to everyone at the club, and so on.

And (last we heard) the houses are shooting up great guns, no problems there at all.

No sign of the training ground though.

And the club doesn't bother updating us about it any more.

Can you keep your agenda against the club off The Gentry thread. It's not like you haven't posted enough on every other thread for months

Hi, Brentford fan here,

Glad you have chosen us for your GENTRY day game in April, very fitting as it will be your last chance to visit an original old terraced ground and the pubs on each corner, I remember your visit in 2014, just watched your video on the origins of Gentry day, very informative and a good watch.

I’ve been coming to Griffin Park for over 60 years and will miss the old girl, but on the other hand looking forward to our brand new stadium with all the mod cons, luckily its not situated miles away on some god forsaken industrial estate but literally just under a mile away by Kew Bridge, (see video here for those who are interested)

All 4 pubs take home and away supporters, never any trouble with your supporters, except the very few idiots that we all suffer from, I’ve never witnessed any problems at all with PNE, when we move to the new ground there are plenty of good pubs on the doorstep, I’m going to still use my old one and walk 10-15 mins.

Make the most of your last visit to GP, it should be ram packed, especially if we are in the mix
Any chance we can leave our few idiots with you
You seem like a really nice bunch ??

Brentford was and is a fine football club.

Hi Paul, i know its a bit early but what will the ticket allocation be for away fans in the new stadium, any idea?.....could be ideal choice for Gentry Day next season too!!
I think it's going to be around 2,500 with a bit of flexibility built in, would love to see you all down here next season for Gentry day, it would be befitting for you to have said goodbye to GP, and christened the new stadium. 👍 always had time for PNE supporters, spent about 2 great hours in the pub with a bunch of your supporters the last time you were here, top people they were too.

Will do. Well both be in the prem at that point so It’ll be good to celebrate together

Nearest grid ref for a helipad please
Might I recommend the Learjet into Heathrow, then have Jeeves meet you with the Limo? It’s a short drive and those darned helicopters are that shaky they could make you spill your Don Perignon all over your Butter Pie.

can only say what i know. At minute its quiet. There was interest in someone who i thought was unrealistic as stated on another thread

You weren't wrong tbf - they were a professional footballer which immediately ruled them out

Advance train tickets are now on sale. Bit there is the risk that it maybe moved for tv coverage. With my mates family and friends railcard it came to £31 return from Lancaster. Have to change at Crewe both ways.

If both teams continue their present form Id be surprised if this fixture is not grabbed by sky.

31 quid, though!!!

Well worth the risk.

Never really bought in to the Brentford away love in, partly because of the shit results and the minimal legroom up top (the 2 2 game 20 years ago was fun though).

The pubs on the corners of the ground are for the terminally unimaginative.

The main thing I have against the place is either due to a sausage roll I had on the High Street or some beer I had in the Magpie and Crown one year. Think it was the game that Alan Judge scored the pen.

Come the final whistle, I was experiencing severe stomach pain and had to sprint to either the Black Dog or the Waterman’s Arms to drop my guts.

My other half had to get me some more paper from the ladies.

My ringpiece has never been the same since.

Keep in view London North Western haven't released their cheap tickets yet. Takes a bit longer but can get Crewe-London from £15 return and that's without having to use one of their 3.5hrs stops everywhere services.

After that you just need to get from Preston to Crewe and visa versa.
