Confirmed Graham Alexander New Manager, Chris Lucketti as Assistant

Confirmed Graham Alexander New Manager, Chris Lucketti as Assistant

Let’s be honest, it’s gone exactly as most fans knew it would. There’s no place for passion and nostalgia. It doesn’t lead to results on the pitch. The owners banked on sentiment forgetting the players don’t care about status, they want a decent manager.

Literally everything has got worse since they came in. Worse defensively, no longer creating the chances we were, and picking up injuries left right and centre. Worryingly, there’s no sign it’ll get better. He’s come straight in and started playing L1 tactics which doesn’t work in the Championship. You can tell they’ve done no work for this game, every single player had been told to pick it up and kick it forward hoping for a lucky bounce.
Don’t think the likes of Clarke and Leroy had this in mind when talking about being excited by ā€œthe project ā€œ when they signed

With so many players having only just arrived and likely still living in hotels away from their families, it's no real surprise they won't be the slightest bit bothered by the arrival of a "club legend" they probably hadn't heard much of (apart from seeing him training on a quagmire and buying bibs in the Class of 92 documentary)

If this is Youl Mawene and Paul Gallagher.... I swear...

I should add, my BIGGEST fear about this appointment is that it's come from the new majority/minority ownership.

They do walk amongst us, but if the "BRING 'EM HOME" brigade are in charge of the Saudi money now, and after Alexander + Lucketti we're looking at a DoF role for Billy Davies, coaches of Mawene and Gallagher and a midfield of Browne and Pearson in January then fuck me... I'm done.

On the plus side, as I type, we are only the 90th crappy side out of the 92 with Bournemouth and Spurs only having 3 Points to our meagre 4 Points!

Youl has obviously worked with them before and is now with Burnley, isn’t he?

I did notice against Birmingham that Alexander and Lucketti were in conversation on the touchline with Andy Liddell on a couple of occasions. Hadn’t noticed that before under Heckingbottom. Might be reading too much into it mind. Have Liddell and Youl got similar roles?

If Appleton wants a coaching role I’d be asking him, personally. Not quite managed it as a head coach but is very highly regarded on the training pitch.

FFS - what is it with our fanbase, constantly wanting to bring back ex-players.

Sorry, you have a right to your own opinion, but I would much rather us go down the route of employing winners who have no emotional attachment to the club.

but in reality this is what it will actually be i n typical PNE fashion......................

No worries cockle.

Maybe I hadn’t made it clear but my ā€˜I’d be asking Appleton’ comment was directed @Bobbage post about the clamour for former player/ties to the club. If they had a hard on for former players coming back, I’d be asking Appleton rather than Gallagher. Not necessarily an endorsement for them to go balls out for former players.

It’s an all a moot point anyway, for me. We’re way beyond the need of a couple of new faces on the training ground. It’s like putting a wet paper towel on a compound fracture.

Genuine question to everyone, is this going to make any difference at all ? This squad looks poor with a manager out of his depth.
We've gotta do something Micky. Under hecky there were a number of games where north end played well and then faded, so there's a crum of something there. They've gotta get compact hard to beat first and build from there. Mentality needs to be warrior like too. I am probably fucking stupid but I still believe.

The right coach possibly could make improvements. A particularly innovative or experienced at the upper levels. But I doubt either of these will fit that
A few corner and free kick routines wouldn't go a miss too. These boys need to be working their fucking balls off.
