Exactly this.Alex Neil saw his three best players sold for about 1m combined, and their replacements were a useless journeyman on loan, a midfielder on loan he didn’t really want, and nobody. He was then allowed to bring in two first time loans and two more journeymen on frees for his survival bid.
Heckingbottom was allowed to sell two players he didn’t use and then reinvest every penny into two players he’d been chasing since the summer.
The two are not comparable
I’m not defending these owners. I want them to leave.
But they are so much better than Trevor ever was in the fact that when we sell players the manager is allowed to reinvest the money.
The Jan window wasn’t great but the manager still managed to bring in his top target.
People moan about us playing a back three of Lindsay, Hughes and storey yet on the bench on Friday we had offiah and Gibson (two players that cost over a million.)
Hecky has managed to revamp this squad so ‘he shouldn’t be blamed because he hasn’t been backed’ is just nonsense. He has been backed.
