PH was a brilliant appointment and bringing SM with him was just as brilliant.

He now is under no illusion just how shit we are and will want to start to put that right in January, however once he realises he can't as the owners are tight cunts, and the results continue to be shit he'll be after an exit and another club....

He's also not stupid and will have known this when signing a contract.
I've often questioned why any manager would want to come and work here - fans want/expect a play off push yet we have a budget consistently in the bottom 6 to achieve it, while working within an infrastructure that's rooted in the 1990s. Just seems to be professional suicide to me.
Yet they still keep signing - ultimately it's a (very well paid) job.
I don't think it's a coincidence that our last two managers (I don't count Frankie as he never managed before and won't do again) 'checked out' long before they eventually got the boot/resigned.

Let him walk if he wants. I’ve seen little improvement, especially results wise, in all honesty. Less ppg then Ryan, and he was seen as a clueless halfwit, which he was granted. Today was as bad as anything under the clueless halfwit.

We were fortunate to beat Luton and Coventry and fortunate to get a point against Boro in my opinion. I’m not advocating for him to get sacked, far from it, I’d rather see every player leave before him. I just think he’s a bit overrated tbh.

Let him then. Its been better but he’s not a miracle worker, and he knew it when he joined

If he doesn’t like it then he’s not the right one to be here right now

Heckingbottom’s first 11 league games:
Won 3. Drawn 5. Lost 3.
14 goals scored. Conceded 15.

Lowe’s first 11 league games:
Won 5. Drawn 5. Lost 1.
Scored 13. Conceded 8.

Those numbers don’t scream the previous manager was clueless and the current one a genius. They tell me that changing the manager is futile whilst the fundamental issue - the playing squad - remains the same for fucking years on end.

When will people realise a manager can only do so much with a squad like ours. Maybe Ryan Lowe and his staff were doing a half decent job after all…guiding this shower of shit to consecutive top half finishes. I’d snap your hand off for a 10th place finish if you offered it now.

Some of the treatment Lowe got here was nothing short of disgraceful.

And I reckon we’ll hear murmurs of dissent against the current manager by Christmas. And the criticism will really pick up in the new year. You can chart the North End managerial lifestyle like clockwork.

The January window can’t come quick enough. Frankly, the end of the season can’t come quick enough.

Don’t worry, like Neil before him the ambition will be beaten out of him within 2-3 transfer windows.

I doubt he’ll jump ship. Like a frog being boiled, it’ll be too late by the time he realises.

I’ve got no doubt Heckingbottom is a very good manager.

He’s 100% proven he can challenge at the top end of this division and get a club promoted, but he needs the resources. All the pressure is on the owners to give him what he needs.

Lowe was hopeless, but having a shit manager is no longer a problem.

Heckingbottom is the first manager we’ve had in a long time who is really worth blowing the budget for.
The owners need to either back him or sell the club and piss off.

Agree with this, the defence is a shambles and recruitment/retainment over the past 5 years has been awful.

We would have gone down this season if Ryan Lowe was allowed to continue.

The issue was not sacking him in the summer and giving Hecky the full pre season. This wasnt helped by the director spending £2 million on a winger when we had no manager.

Some of the treatment Lowe got here was nothing short of disgraceful.
Lowe was his own worst enemy and the stick he got was hardly surprising.

Nonsense, there is only one place discontent should be aimed and it's not the management.

Hecky and McCall have made a difference and we can see what they are trying to do.

Sadly they just dont have the players.

Agreed.

Let's just hope Peter hasn't spent all the budget on Okkles.

Back the manager, remove Ridsdale.

Heckingbottom looked like he'd already checked out today. It usually takes them a bit longer than that but he's now clearly realised the enormity of the job he's taken on 🙄

Agree, except for the 5th paragraph.

I struggle to understand how you can call the owners tight cunts when they put in 12m+ a season just to keep us in business. Perhaps you should get a consortium together to buy them out?

This.

The squad needs a right good sort. Ins and Outs, especially the ones out of contract.

If we've spaffed the budget on Okkels we're in trouble.

Hecky's the man for me. We've just got to support him to sort this mess out

In the context of how much money they have and their income from the other businesses they own, I'd be genuinely interested to know what significance and impact £12m a season has on the family. I have no idea btw.

People are really leaning into the January transfer window.

But our budget for the season is famously set at the start and doesn't change.

And we had no serious interest in free agents in September because "the money has gone".

Any bits of cash left over are being wisely invested in contract extensions as we speak.

So I think we're going to be one-out/one-in and cash neutral in January - before we can buy, we'll need to sell.

The club are culpable for not getting rid of Lowe in the summer and letting a new manager have a full transfer window . They’ll be doubly culpable to the point of suicidal - if they do not give this manager full backing in the transfer window. The team look as if they have been appointed by a misinformed and out of touch committee chaired by Peter Ridsdale - the sooner this ridiculous situation is sorted the more perilous our cherished Chsnpuonsguo status will become. Mr Hemmings get out of bed and smell the coffee. And if you don’t want to get out of bed relinquish your father’s legacy

Good point. But why should they distribute any profit from other ventures into a loss making PNE?

I don't think he will walk but I do think he'll get poached.

This club is a fucking shambles. Literally PH and Stu Mac the shining lights.

I said at the transfer window, by not giving this guy a new defender we have handed a good manager a relegation battle.

He's quality: good with the media, very attacking, popular with players, etc. nothing not to like. When a big hitter fires a manager they would be mental not to go for a man who has replicated his success at Sheff Utd at a total fucking pig sty of a club.
