Hecky will walk!

Hecky will walk!

I think Osmajic made good runs all game yesterday, bar a few of the offsides, but like you say, every pass is delayed with this team.

Must be soul destroying as a striker when your service is coming from Storey, Lindsay, McCann and Hughes.
The striker is the only player that can see down the line so it’s on them to know when to make the run. But even if you’re right, it’s on a striker to start using his brains (which I’m not convinced Osmajic has much of). If you’ve got players that are taking too long to play the ball, continuing to make the same offside run is totally pointless because it’s not going to make the pass come any quicker and just turns possession over. So drop back half a yard and test whether you’ve still got the pace (which he clearly did). Or come in and try and lay the ball off to others to break the line, like we did in the first half with Devine and Erabi did exceptionally when he came on.

A striker that can only make runs off the shoulder and only be onside if the ball comes when he makes the run, isn’t the sign of a competent striker. At some point Osmajic has to take responsibility for actually leading the line

The sole tactic for 60 minutes yesterday was to try and exploit the high line, so offsides are inevitable. I think he made a lot more good runs than bad, and had the long balls been played when they should, he'd be under less criticism today.

You can't simply drop back half a yard when you're being marked tightly, it's all about timing, he got some wrong, but got more right imo. Not to say he had a good game overall.

If he scored his two one on ones/executed the pass on the second one, then the offsides would've been worth it. Two big chances come from it. Although one won't officially go down as one.

It doesn’t surprise me we are caught offside more than the opposition, because our defence are never in a straight line , more like a dogs hind leg because we are so slow at the back that at least one defender plays deeper than the rest because of the lack of pace so anyone making a run either side is almost always going to be onside and have plenty of space to run into ,.
On the other hand Osmajic especially if no one passes when he first makes the run he’s flagged offside. Yes he needs to hold the line or bend his run but it’s not always his fault , most of our defenders can’t play a long ball without controlling it first looking up then taking time to deliver the ball .

Needs to learn to curve his runs ?
