I've Lost It

I've Lost It

Same tbh. I was on the fence about going as a load of my friends were going out drinking round Garstang at 3pm. Decided to go and when Millwall scored I just felt nothing, no anger or frustration. At that point, I knew I'd made the wrong decision.

Feels like until a takeover happens we're all just going through the motions, players, manager and fans.
Same. It’s awful but while it was gutting for Rovers to score the winner in the last minute, a minute or two later I just… almost didn’t care. How bad is that?

I think I’ve stopped caring less and less since the start of our post-Bristol City downfall. Like you say, the only thing to try and get optimistic about is a potential takeover.

I think it’s just the realisation that we appear to have screwed up and our season’s folded yet again - like an eternal fecking doom loop.

We’ll all be enthusiastic again at some point, but this club don’t half make it fecking difficult.

That’s certainly my take on it. I think losing in the dying seconds at Ewood, followed immediately by doing similar at Swansea, were gut punches that took the wind out of the club and out of most of those fans who hadn’t already thrown in the towel.

I gather that we deserved what we got at Rovers, and it was certainly the case at Swansea…. but if somehow we’d hung on for an extra minute or so in both, who knows how we’d have fared against Millwall… but we didn’t and if I had had to bet on Saturday’s result it would most definitely have been on a Millwall win. It felt inevitable.
With clubs on our current trajectory, 8 or 9 times out of ten, they keep plunging downwards for the rest of the season. Just occasionally, they suddenly find a freedom that lets them improve. I’m ever the optimist!

Admittedly I lost my shit on Saturday. On reflection, I'm wondering why I bothered!

Quite easy to say I don't care but I do. Having said that, I do question why I sack off so much stuff just because it clashes with a home game (weekends away, gigs, heritage railway visits etc) only to be rewarded with utter shite.

Missing Friday's game though as I'm down in Bristol for the weekend (and a gig).

Yeah, same. I haven't been been on since I left early during the Hull game.

Life is too short to punish yourself every weekend doing something you get increasingly diminishing enjoyment from.
That’s how I feel MB, it’s punishment every time we play…

I spend a lot of my waking hours thinking about how we are going to do in the next match.

Surely, there has to be some enjoyment in supporting your favourite team ??

Exactly, it's a chore.

I get enough of those from the wife without inflicting more on myself.

Exactly…..

Last Saturday I went for a couple of pints in the Eagle & Child , pre-shuttle bus…..

When it came time to leave I really couldn’t be arsed and was almost tempted to stay in the Pub

Saturday, half way through the game I suddenly lost it and no idea why.
I suddenly felt sort of calm, no aggression, no fire, no passion, no anger and not even sadness
Just acceptance I suppose. I've supported North End since the very early 1960's
Always passionate, ranting and raving at poor results and performances, cheering like mad at goals and victories

Right now I have no real interest, you can call me a shit fan if you like, but I never have been, I enjoyed Bristol City away, I even took my wife.
Wrexham was poor and a hard ride home on a train full of Wrexham fans but that's fooball.
Ups and downs, good days and bad days but somehow, and I don't know how, Saturday has changed me into someone I don't recognise.
Season ticket holder for many years but I just know I won't be going on Friday, I'm not even sure it I'll tune in to watch it on telly.
My intrest has just dissapeared and right now I don't seem that bothered. I hope it returns, maybe a decent performance/result on Friday will rekindle the embers of a sadly reduced fire for the team I've followed for 64 years.

I am exactly the same. I knew before the game we'd likely lose and there was countless times during the match on Saturday I wanted to leave as it was just pointless watching us - we offered nothing and largely have offered absolutely nothing since Bristol City away.

I'm going on this Friday but am genuinely tempted to miss the Stoke match, mainly as quite a few of my mates I go with aren't on that game. They're largely the reason I go and why I renewed my season ticket the last couple of seasons.

I'll continue to support the club and be a strong advocate of regime change at the top. mangers, coaches and players will come and go, the only way things are going to change for the better is with Hemmings and Ridsdale out.

I’m a glass half full person but I find promoting optimism to anybody a hard sell at the moment.
Many home games since Covid if I’d have take someone on for the first time it would have been embarrassing and probably put them off for life.
A change of ownership may be risky but it really is needed to try and spark things into life.

Feel just the same Smurf. It sounds like we've spanned the same time watching North End (first game 62)...and now Im losing interest. There was a time in the second half last Saturday when I'd spend a while watching the seagulls (lovely blue sky) only to bring my eyes reluctantly back to the pitch, only to find Cornell scrambling the ball off the line - but I wasn't bothered, nor did I feel anything when they scored their second (and I have an antipathy with Millwall, started my teaching career down the Old Kent Road and most Dads were Wall fans)...
Beer in the Moorbrook was good though.

I was 50/50 whether to go on last Saturday because I was feeling a bit under the weather with a cold.

However, in the end , the lure of the Guinness was too much to keep me at home….

Mrs Ando has suggested that I just buy 4 cans from Sainsbury’s and sit in front of the telly the next time that I feel like that 🤣🤣

I’ve been watching as long as you Smurf and still get a buzz out of watching North End, my team. I’d never dream of leaving early even if we were getting heavily beaten. Everyone’s a critic nowadays and know better than the manager about players and tactics. It’s no wonder Ryan Lowe pointed out that he’s got coaching badges. If we lose a game, then it’s time to have a go at the Hemmings, Peter Ridsdale or the management. For what it’s worth I think we’ve been far better to watch this season and have a really good squad as our position in the league testifies. Will we ever see PNE in the Premiership? Who knows. One disheartening fact is that in its 30+ years of existence no less than 51 clubs have competed in it and sadly we aren’t one of them.

Lucky if there is 9,000 fans actually attending on Friday....of course they will add on non attending season ticket holders to inflate the attendance.....we are firmly back to utter apathy regarding this club sadly 😞
The weather might play an important part in people’s decisions whether to attend or not…

I didn’t know that 51 different teams had played in the Premier League until yesterday when
I attended the weekly “ Sporting Memories “ session at Deepdale.

It was John Kay who raised the fact and it got me thinking if I could name them all without cheating and using Mr.Google….

We were certainly better to watch earlier in the season I have no doubt about that.
Since the Bristol City game though we do seem to have gone into reverse thrust.
There doesn’t seem to be the same team spirit just at the moment and the risk of a tame end to the season with a finish in the bottom third is very real.

Remember when Craig Brown played 352 and then his Assistant KBD got the gig and immediately went to a Back Four?

United played a variation of 343 and suddenly, Carrick gets the gig and he goes to a Back Four.

Two top well known examples of change being for the good.

I do think we now have the players to be able to permanently switch to a back 4 and stick with it.

BBC ran this quiz a couple of days ago.

I got them all in about 5 minutes (typing them in) although the last one, which wasn't difficult, took me a good 45 seconds of pondering.
