FAN June Meeting Minutes

Asking a genuine question here, what is the difference between this group and the PCS group, don’t they do the same work? Just asking a question.

Great idea to have a scheme/ membership for younger fans.
Pretty sure there was a scheme about 20 odd years ago. Andrea Brown ran it but she now works at the EFL pretty high up. A lovely lady, and it was she who arranged for my grandson to be a mascot at West Ham when we played them there. Craig Brown was the then manager and we had an absolutely brilliant day, we won too. My grandson is 30 now and still remembers it with great fondness.

There was also a scheme started in 1981, I can remember evenings in the old supporters club and nights in the old 6 a side courts on Lowthorpe Road. The very first meeting they promised us a video show - it turned out to be the full 90 minutes of the previous Saturday’s 4-0 defeat at Swindon. What a treat!

No mate, packed in after 2005 play off defeat, turned into a massive Mcfly fan attending their gigs up and down the country with her sisters in those years after!
Has attended one or two since with the grandkids but lost interest
Other priorities which is fair enough.
Having 3 children will take up a lot of her time for sure.
Certainly saved herself a lot of grief 😊

Don’t have kids but back the junior memberships idea as long as it involves something meaningful for all who are part of it, not just things like enter a competition and a player may visit your school as unless you are that one kid most of the others get nothing from it.
Maybe invite them to the training ground for a day during the school holidays and then have a match(es) afterwards with the coaching staff or players as the teams managers. Could do it over a number of days and time of year for age groups

I'll wait to they announce who's playing before I decide if I like the sound 😆
Will have to offer something different to nearby places to attract talent. Will need to be big enough to fill a stadium but not big enough for the likes of the Etihad or Anfield and offer the company or band a competitive package to come here instead of just playing one of the Manchester venues.

I remember being at that and watching the 4-0 hammering. Gordon Lee's assistant was also there speaking - Geoff Nulty iI'm sure.

He suggested to all us kids that suppprters would always prefer to see an entertaining game with goals llike a 2-2 rather than a crap 1-0 win game and to prove it asked for a show of hands. Hilarious when every Junior White put their hand up going for a boring 1-0! He was a bit embarrassed.

There was also a launch event at Deepdale when you supposedly got a tour but in reality it was a look round the pavilion. Docherty was in attendance and signing autographs, I remember my dad saying he looked like he’d rather be anywhere else and wouldn’t last long. How right he was.
