Beating the mighty Swindon Town to get into the old Division 2…the pinnacle of over 60 years of football.
Got to say, that's a difficult emotion to process, of course it was a great Day to get back to at least the level that we should operate at, but equally taken over a 60 odd year period, maybe we should have had a few years in whatever the top Division was over that time.
Burnley whilst also being in the doldrums have been in the top Division in the 60's & 70's & then, yo- yoed with the Prem.
Even Blackpool where in Div 1 after us & then in the Prem, and of course Rovers.
Whilst maybe 2nd tier as a provincial Town (Ok now small City) is our level, why do all our comparable Clubs have the occasional Day in the Sun - and we are told we are over achieving!!

So, to sum it up, i get your sardonic post!!!

The problem is dreamer that the list doesn’t stop at Blackpool, Burnley and Blackburn.

Grayson deserves enormous credit for lifting the players after that Colchester game.

The game at Wembley was magnificent.
No idea what he put in Beckford's Weetabix, but as individual performances go over a playoff campaign, that's got to be one of the best.

Whole team were fantastic.

Yes the highlight of about 58 years watching! Meagre pickings maybe.
I was talking to a guy on holiday earlier this year who had been in the away end on that day and had less than fond memories. He would have been very happy to swap our subsequent relative mediocrity for his club's fortunes since.

The team was great, but it’s almost as if Beckford took it upon himself to do it on his own lol - it started against Colchester (away and at home), then took it a step further in the final - was that 6 goals in playoff semi finals and final?

My favourite memory will always be the video from the away end where a fan was spitting feathers saying that it shouldn’t have been allowed that we had Beckford 🤣.

It’s a sad state of affairs that we are looking back on that final and would gladly have that team back. We’ve stagnated and it’s clear to see all that matters is that we stay up and survive.
