McAvoy sacked (Confirmed)

McAvoy sacked (Confirmed)

Well lets hope the step up isn't too far, and he isn't reliant on his backroom staff and can adapt without them, SS for instance might be a big loss.

I hope it's agreed he can recruit a team of his choice and has the freedom to choose targets both as coaching staff, and additions to the squad, as well as dumping those he doesn't need.

Pleased with this appointment yes but for me personally the club still need to do other things to improve my connection with them still. But if he improves things on the pitch like we all think then its definitely a huge step in the right direction.

I see this as a rushed replacement with the usual gamble by Ridsdale, no plan just replace FM with a rated Div 1 manager, but without the team that helped him get there.

Disappointed no other candidates interviewed, the usual Ridsale planning - no plan, no strategy. One thing is for sure, he won't be sidelined through injury. Anyway Mr Lowe welcome to Deepdale and best of British.
What utter crap , just for once, the club has acted and secured their number 1 target, so credit where it's due.

You can’t seriously think we’ve just decided today to appoint Lowe?
No I don't, just surprised he has arriving on his own, and when did discussions take place, yesterday, today? If that is the case then Ridsdale made him number 1 target, then sacked FM, and in a day made the decision to open negotiations and appoint him, can't approach a manager without permission from the club (Plymouth).

So all discussions have taken place today or last night and the deal is agreed? Like I said a rush appointment, I would have certainly interviewed other candidates and weighed up the best way forward.

One of the things that is often overlooked when getting a new manager/head coach is the fact its a clean slate for everyone at the club.
Gives players an opportunity to step up a notch or two at North End, players that haven't been playing as well as they are capable of or even players who haven't made the starting 11 or the EFL registered squad.

Excited to see what this appointment will bring.

That’s a very naive way of looking at it.

Discussions will have been had way in advance of yesterday.

Oh man, don’t be naive. These things go on for weeks, same as contract negotiations and transfers

I have to say I’m quite surprised he’s coming on his own. Seems the done thing these days for managers to move lock, stock & barrel with all their team behind them.

I am far from Peter Ridsdales biggest fan but its fairly clear they have thought this one through.

The contract just says he can talk to the other club. He still remains under contract even though he can talk to the club. So that means he either honours the contract, resigns or Plymouth sack him. He wanted the move after talking to us and resigned. If Plymouth sacked him they'd need to pay him for the remainder of his contract.
Exactly mate.
