McAvoy sacked (Confirmed)

McAvoy sacked (Confirmed)

For what it's worth I always enjoyed watching Danny Mayor and felt he had a chance. It isn't too late for him but I have to admit that I haven't seen him play recently, except for show-reels and I wouldn't imagine we would have considered him without the earlier link to North End...

I'm delighted at the return of Lord Bonkers and really enjoying his posts. Like him, I can't understand why Walker hasn't had some time on the pitch for the first team.
The main question is, if Walker and O'Reilly were good enough to make their North End debuts aged 16, what The he'll have our managers/coaches done to them over the last three years? Both have real talent e.g. Walker ahead of Sinclair and Barkhuizen while the mercurial O'Reilly given the same opportunities as the under performing Browne, Potts and Johnson should now be a first team regular. In fact by giving O'Reilly his well earned chance the wage bill could be reduced by £2 million a year by selling Browne, Johnson and Potts.

As for those now heralding Browne's slightly improved form (after two years of abject displays) as the 2nd coming I would ask those fans how many clear cut scoring opportunities did he created for our forwards v Rovers? The truth is he has regressed or stood still since being 24. Time to sell (same goes for Potts, Johnson, Maguire and Barkhuizen). Browne'sv replacement? 20 byear old Luca Connell from Celtic who Ridsdale tried to sign from Bolton.

He was more than good enough as described by Billy Jones at the time when he mentioned they couldn't get the ball off him in training.

Unlike most of the current players he was prepared to take on and beat defenders through sheer trickery. Rather then encouraging the lad, far too many PNE fans just like you would groan like he'll when he lost the ball. What you and other fans didn't realise was at the age of 19 He was still learning from his mistakes whereas normally players aged 25+ have nothing more to learn. At that age they are what they are. In conclusion it was fans like you who were culpable of Mayor's demise under the incompetent Westley.

How about giving us your insight on O'Reilly, Walker and Bennett, the first two who have been particularly shown nothing but contempt by Neil and then McAvoy?

I have never known any other club where fans are so hostile towards their youth players. Those very supporters normally lament "he's not the finished article." Well at 18-19 that will always be the case because they are still learning.

No doubt you are the sort of fan who was ecstatic about Mayor's replacement Holroyd who I described at the time as "Forest Gump." He ran around for 90 minutes, none stop and would achieve nothing. Arguably one of worst ever PNE players.
Agree. Anyone that was at Deepdale to witness Mayor's display v Huddersfield, when he tore their whole defence a new arsehole, should know that he had more than enough talent to succeed at our current level. The crowd (at times) and then a fecking useless manager shot his confidence completely. I'm glad he's gone on to have a reasonable career, although a lot of what if's remain with Danny.

Yes, it’s a shame. He should’ve had a solid championship career.

Holdroyd was dreadful as was Beardsley and Elding , they should never have got near a North End shirt…..

Glad you're back on here. Always some entertainment when you're about....

Walker and O'Reilly weren't good enough to make their North End debuts at 16. In that game against Villa, we had literally no first team players fit. It was a torrid time over that Christmas period. I don't think it was a case of AN thinking they were good enough, it was a case of who was available. For that game we had Simpson, Baxter, O'Reilly, Walker, Fisher and Crowe on the bench.

In regards to your point on Walker having more talent than Barkhuizen and Sinclair, if you've been going down to AFC Fylde and Altrincham every week then fair enough (I predict you haven't). But that is absolutely not true. Sinclair has played at the very highest level and Barkhuizen has been at a good level in this league for the last 4 years.

The point on O'Reilly is just ridiculously over the top. If O'Reilly was better than Browne, Johnson and Potts, then I do highly doubt he'd be out on loan at a team in the 6th division of English football. Obviously, you can say management have had an affect on his growth (and maybe they have), but please don't bore us with over the top statements like that.

Just want to register my appreciation for Frankie’s efforts and wish him luck for the future.

He helped guide us to safety last season - we were perilously close to the drop when he took over - but sadly he was unable to build on that and get the consistent performances and results expected this season so in the tough world of football it was inevitable that he’d be replaced sooner or later.

No doubt you would have said the same about Tony Morley at 17, Alex Bruce at 18, Mark Lawrenson at 17 Mick Baxter at 18, Stephen Doyle at 16, Mel Holden at 18, Graham Houston at 18, Alan Kelly Jen at 17 and many more. All were youth players given baptisms if fire and all rise to the occasion. As such I'm telling you right now, had Walker and O'Reilly been given the same chances as Browne, Potts, Johnson, Sinclair and Barkhuizen they would now be established first teamers with rising values. I therefore challenge you to tell me how much each of the following would be sold for today, Browne? Johnson? Potts? Barkhuizen? Sinclair? Maguire? Your response will prove why PNE are still 100% reliant on the Hemmings family.

By the way I saw Walker and O'Reilly the same number of times as Dolan. Tell me did I call it right on a lad now being.mentioned as a possible England U21? A special talent who Neil and Ridsdale gave away after the club informed me I didn't know what I was talking about!

Houston was playing Sunday League footy on the pitches at Mill Lane, Fulwood. He moved to Nob End later.

I should know, I watched him (along with Dave Lancaster) with living, at the time, on Mill Croft. Could watch them from my bedroom window every other Sunday.

No he wasn't good enough. He was soft as anything. You could breathe on him and he would fall over. Holroyd wasn't Major's replacement - we signed Holroyd when major was still here. It was monakana and lee holmes who were replacements for Danny Major.

If he was good enough he would have been playing a lot more championship football. He wasn't which is why his only championship action came in the season we got relegated.

His one goal in league last season must have been a scorcher!

Unfortunately, I am not of the age where I saw any of these play.

However, considering you knew that all of these were going to be the players that they became (including Dolan), I'm surprised you're sat spending time on a PNE Forum as I thought someone like you would be running the Real Madrid youth academy with the 'knowledge' you have.

I eagerly await your next YouTube upload to see what gems (you apparently found before anyone else involved in football did) Ridsdale rejected when you emailed him your dossier....

I'd be quite happy to see both Thommo & Gally leave next, if I'm being honest. Feel's like we need a complete clean slate, across the board.

Maybe keep them on for the remainder of the season, for a little bit of intial continuity, while RL assesses whats required, then start a fresh next season?

Harsh maybe, but new ideas, voices, tactics from top to bottom is required.

Gally is a rookie so not sure if put too much blame on him, but maybe he was promoted to the first team too quickly.

I see Thommo leaving by the end of the year and Gally taking responsibility for the reserves.

Oh god no, we don’t want him…. He wasn’t good enough when he was here 8 or 9 years ago.
what happened to the positivity thread...?

Danny is one of those players that dribbles at people - something we havent got - and since he left has won at least 2 divisional POTY awards....
maybe he improved after leaving Westley ?

he already has responsibility for the reserves............ the guys only had 6 months as a adult coach...how can that be long enough to say he isnt up to it as others are saying...... its about the same length of time we gave Allerdyce and look what good that did us in letting him go.

You'll have to ask the 'others' that question.
