Hoping that someone has just had a bigish punt on him! Causing his odds to slash! If this is the man we get after all the other names mentioned this is piss poor! Like Paul Simpson all over again!!

FFS, how can you say that???
Westley's done an unbeliaveble job at Stevenage. It's more likely that he won't leave them, rather than us not wanting him. He should be one of our top candidates. If he can do what he's done with a shite Stevenage side, imagine what he can do with us! They've just beaten Colchester 6-1 away. He's guided them to back to back promotions and could be one of the first managers to do the triple promotion. They were 21st in the Conference National when he took over 3 years ago. They're now 6th in League One. Incredible job he's done with a 55% win ratio over 3 different divisions to boot.Hoping that someone has just had a bigish punt on him! Causing his odds to slash! Yes, but look at what Simpson did with a shite Carlisle side. Also, look at what Ferguson did with an originally shite Peterborough side. Now look at what they did with us. Then please take a moment to re-assess your thoughts!

They aren't all clones of each other, you do realise?

Think Westley has done much more than both those managers. Simmo took over Carlisle in League Two (when they were near the bottom), relegated them and took them to back to back promotions into League One, where he left them for us. Ferguson inherited a very talented Peterborough side that were always flirting with League One football and promoted them to this level. He then were given additional funds in League One where he after a bad start to League One, somehow managed to guide them into the Championship, where he failed. But he's not doing too much of a bad job now, so maybe it's patience with him. Carlisle were favourites to bounce back to League Two, so Simmo's only real achievement was promoting them into League One.
Ferguson's achievements at Peterborough were thanks to money and help from contacts. Westley has done it mainly on his own and transformed a team from relegation favourites into the Conference South into League One promotion candidates. So his achievements for me are firstly saving them from relegation, promoting them to League Two, promoting them to League One and guiding them into the play off places now. Neither Simmo or Fergie could say they did that much. I don't like his style of football but he gets the results as he did with Farnborough and all the other non league sides he managed previously. Plus don't forget we were appointing League One managers to try and get promotion to the Premier League with Fergie and Simmo, whilst Westley already manages a team that are currently above us, unlike those two who had a huge leap to make, without any real managerial experience.
Watching Stevenage type football at Deepdale would be another nail in our coffin - just hoping the TH / PR and BD can agree then its all sytems go.
I agree. I'd hate to beat teams like Colchester 6-1 at their place. Much rather get hammered by them 4-2 at Deepdale.
He's not the man I want the most at PNE but he's certainly better than Lee and Magilton. And I'd hope for BD as well but if that falls through, he isn't a bad option. Least we're thinking outside the box and for a suitable Plan B.
At this moment in time I'd take winning football over attractive football but I think our squad is set up to play attractive football. There is some talent in there. On the other hand, if we are selling that talent, it could be feasible to set up a squad to play non-attractive football on a shoestring and draft in a manager who will get results from that squad. Honestly, I don't care, I just want promotion and if we do that with long ball I will be a happy man.
It seems some would prefer to play attractive football and lose than to play ugly football and win. That is up to you but I know which path will lead us to greener pastures.

I'd take Westley over every sensible option so far.

I really hope the club can get BD back and know the he and the club seek this outcome - if the terms stack up from both sides. BUT with limited investment and the current playing stock the guy Westley would probably make good use of what he has to use. BUT the football will be dire.

Let's remember who else made a name for himself by taking a 'nothing club' to uncharted heights with a band of decent players prepared to play his dire but effective style..........John Beck
That approach doesn't work at a club like ours as proven by the said John Beck. There are too many people who think we are above all that stuff.

All it proves is that it didn't work for John Beck, surely?
Gary Peters worked under Beck for many years, but he was relatively successful.
My abhorrance to BD's return is nothing to do with the style of football; every fan's happy with a 1-0 win - c.f. The Full Monty where the only way they could get the choreography right was to emulate the Arsenal off-side trap - and some years on, all Gooners would love to be singing once again "One nil, to the Ar-sen-al" and see some silverware return to their trophy cabinet. No. It's that he has strychnine in place of blood and arsenic in lieu of spunk. Don't forget the abuse we fans have poured on him from the terraces since he shat on us from the greatest height he could find - and our previous pay-off to him allowed the poison dwarf to easily afford ladders to the International Space Station. With so many better off and bigger clubs also seeking new mangers around this time of year, his only motivation for coming here can be to dip us, the fans, deeper in vitriol or to wipe PNE off the football map altogether by saddling us with another riduculous pay-out clause when he up and offs to some other club that "matches my ambition" like, er, Barnsley or Crystal Palace.

Even if it panned out exactly like you say and he does stand with his scarf aloft at Oakwell in 12 months time with thirty grand's worth of Hemmings' £20 notes hanging out of his suit pocket and Ned Kelly doing a photo-shoot at the top of Blackpool Tower, I bet we'd be in a better position in the league at that moment in time.
