A different era. In fact a totally different world.
A different era. In fact a totally different world.
The return game at Deepdale was the last game of the season a crowd of over 16,000 witnessing a Middlesbrough win 4-2 with Mike Elwiss scoring both North End goals..
Middlesbrough won promotion to the 1st Division as second division champions, with North End relegated to Division three.
This was my first season watching North End, obviously things could only get better.🥴😀
Not sure if this link works.

In 1968/69. Me and my mates clubbed together to buy a laceless mitre ball from Cunninghams. We chipped in and it cost us all of ten pounds. It soon began to to show signs of wear which sorted when our clever manager Jack Howarth decided to paint it with deluxe gloss. Which hardened the ball to the hardness of a giant ball bearing. Despite the concussions brought on by heading the ball it must have worked .We won The Churches League Division 2 and The Timmins cup double. Vale Jack Howarth who one time got eleven players into his Austin to get us to a game in Bamber Bridge .Bought my first pair of boots from there.
I asked his advice but didn`t have enough money saved up for the pair he recommended, and asked to see something cheaper.
He put them in a bag and gave them to me anyway.
He did a lot for charity with Willy Cunninghams All Stars, and at one game I saw him do something quite extraordinary. He was carry an armful of footballs up to the pitches, and one slipped out as he went through a gate. He hadn`t seen me behind him and didn`t know he was being watched but just for the fun of it he flicked it into the air and kept it up, using his foot and head, all the way up the field.
Happy days, jumpers for goalposts, etc etc....

Last game before the demolition of the West Stand? Not sure of context on this oneView attachment 37480
I was trying to read the reg plates to get an understanding of what year it might be…..Last game before the demolition of the West Stand?
Unfortunately, the photo is a bit blurry.
Spot on….Was that kit not our vs Wycombe Wembley kit or thereabouts?
Brand new kit for the 1994 PO Final….
@janiejones might be correct about the last game before the West Stand was demolished…
The new Finney Stand started construction in December 1995.
Too much wine perchance?I was trying to read the reg plates to get an understanding of what year it might be…..
Unfortunately, the photo is a bit blurry.
Not yet Waddie….Too much wine perchance?
Only just got home from Sporting Memories after dropping my brother back home….
Mind you , the night is young 🤣🤣
Happiest away trip in over 5o years 6 of us went Friday night on last train and watched as we took the trophy of them happy days 😀 😊 😄3 days earlier than Rotherham game went to Fulham where we won 1 nil thanks to Ricky Heppolette goal. The Fulham programme had a picture of the trophy they thought they would win but sadly(not)they didn’t.
Ricky’s mum and dad were on the supporters club coach with us and were treated like heroes.
When we beat Rotherham their goalie was Roy Tunks who later came to play for us.
