I don't know...
What exactly does he do? Manage the funds? Appoint managers? Agree contracts?
I mean they aren't his funds. If TH never put a £ into this club, we may not be in this division, however I'm more than certain we'd be operating within our budget. Credit goes to Derek for making sure that TH has kept pumping money in, I guess.
b!
Or you could you that Derek has put us in the position were we HAVE to rely on Mr Hemmings.
How much dealings with transfers does Mr Hemmings actually take part in.
Now we all know that he paid for Wallace's loan and transfer, and that he was the one that got shut of Irvine, and brought Ferguson in.
However, until that point I would assume that our Chairman and Board of Directors sanctioned these shockingly long contracts, for players who in Fergusons words " are not good enough, and being paid to much".
Derek states that the club "have always backed their managers", and while he is correct, I find it astounding that some of Irvines signings were not questioned more, especially with what little money we have.
Craig Brown, very nice man, crap league manager, but signed some excellent players, fuller etc
Billy Davies, he is a horrible little twat, but he signed Nugent, and took us two a play off final, allbeit they bottled it again.
Paul Simpson, this man was a disaster, signed some shite like Carter, however he did sign St Ledger.
As for Irvine, well there is not a single player we can sell on, could of signed Charlie Adam, instead paid MORE, yes MORE money for Shumi, who had Irvine bothered to check he would of known why he keeps leaving clubs. Stephen Elliott, can you actually believe we gave Wolves Matt Hill and actually money too for him. The list goes on......
Derek Shaw was responsible for the employment of at least 2 of those managers, and the two in my view who have crippled our football club, lost us significant numbers on our attendances, given out shockingly over the top contracts, and left us in a position were we don't have any saleable assets.
The Chairman has to carry the can, and along with his mate Mcloughlin we will never get anywhere, unless there is change, and fast.
