So Who Now ?

So Who Now ?

I know it's only one game! Hence why I said if things start to go wrong, ie. lose next 2 home games, then I would bring in a new guy (SOD for me btw).

But they've not done anything wrong yet, so it would be harsh / unneccessary AT THIS MOMENT IN TIME to replace them!

Billy would be fine, but it's the travelling circus he brings with him, that hacks me off.

Do we really need Kelly, Darby, Williams and Balderstone around the place again?

It would spell the end for Rhino, Hoyland, Ramsdale, Jackson, which imo would be very unfair.

Plus don't forget, he'll constantly be sniffing round looking for "bigger" jobs, and as soon as a more lucrative offer comes in he'll be off like a shot.

IS THAT WHAT YOU WANT? 'COS THAT'S WHAT WILL HAPPEN!

Maybe the answer is to offer BD the job with the proviso that he keeps the existing back room staff. Particularly important that we retain Hoyland and Ramsdale. You would need to go back to the 60s to see so many promising youngsters coming through the youth set up.

The players were always going to raise their game for last night, no matter who was in charge, just because we had new people in charge, it happens virtually every time a team gets rid of a manager.

It didn't happen when we got rid of Peters and Moyes came in, likewise when we got rid of Simpson and Irvine came in, and it didn't happen when we got rid of Irvine and Ferguson came in.

"it happens virtually every time a team gets rid of a manager".....you sure about that?

It did not happen when Brown came in, but arguably there was a bounce after Ferguson was sacked and Unsworth became the caretaker.

Maybe there is a common theme in the last two "bounces"?

No there wasn't. I seem to remember us losing two vitally crucial games in that period and still to this day, I think those defeats cost us relegation. Palace and Derby, I think it was. Both teams at the time were also fighting for survival and if we had beaten them, we could have escaped the drop. I don't remember any bounce, only a flop.

Yes I'm sure.

I wouldn't post it other wise would I you fucking idiot.

Rob Kelly, OK. Forgot about that one!

Anyway, BD appears to be bigger than PNE according to some of the threads on here. How do we expect players to give everything for the shirt when the fans are kissing the ass of a turn coat? I don't mind that he left but the way he went about it was shameful. I for one will be gutted if we get BD back. I thought he was arrogant and ignorant + is he all that? I'm not sure, although the managers that followed achieved nothing between them.

If he is that good then maybe Blackburn will offer him the job (he's probably engineering that right now) and we can get over it.

What happens if he takes them all with him again? How long has it taken to rebuild after the last time? No, no, no. As low as we have fallen, we still have too much to lose by letting him into our club again. I am really coming around to the idea of encouraging the emerging coaching talent at the club and creating the bootroom method of training and promoting from within.

Any 'bounce' there might have been was negated by the recall of key loan players. Fergie Senior and Pulis knew that when they pulled the players back.

The thing with BD is, he still claimed the credit for us being at the top of the division after he had left. I could see his point to an extent, he should not have said it but he did have a point. Despite Simpson signing a good quality pair of centre backs for reasonable money, as good as anything we have had since I have been watching, that season.

BD did have a point, as all newly left managers have left a squad, 'mentality', team spirit etc... so how does 'King' Billy explain the state Forest are in, or Derby when he left there, forcing a sacking both times by falling out big time with the boards?

Derby got 11 points from 38 games that season.
Forest are bottom 3.

He claimed credit for us being at the top early the next season: fair enough. But the other two...no doubt he says look at the state they are in once I left.

1) Craig Brown uttered the 2 team comment, not Billy.

2) Billy left Derby on 6 points after about 11 games that season. Jewell blew some serious cash such as on that Argentine striker (name escapes me). He managed to get 5 points from around 27 games.

3) Billy took over a NFFC team that was bottom 3 that January, kept them up, then two Top 6 placings follopwed in the next 2 seasons, gets sacked and 6 months later, they are 3rd bottom. I bet the Forest fans would love to have him back reet now!!

Whats your point cha?

Hear hear. I notice Ridsdale hasn't denied the Billy Davies rumours in the LEP. If he wasn't a candidate we would have said so by now, just like we did last time with regards to Jewell and Allardyce.

There was no 'bounce' after DF left. PB to his credit got the team playing with some organisation and spirit and I still think we could and should have stayed up but a mix of fragile confidence inherited from the previous regime, foul luck with injuries and, even then, some perverse selection decisions by PB - that dreadful 4.2.3.1 formation with Johnson out wide and the lumbering Brown upfront, the use of Nicholson, previously highly effective in midfield, as an emergency fullback - did for us in the end.

I make you right on every count but add to that Davies had warned Derby that the team simply weren't good enough to play in the Premier League. So they gave him buttons to spend because the club was skint and then expected Davies to produce a competitive team with a mixture of poor Premiership and average championship players.

Getting Derby into the Premier League was the easy bit, but keeping them there on an tuppence hapenny budget was never going to work.

JD - I am saying I partly credit BD with leaving us in good shape when he left, leaving us a strong squad with belief, I'll leave his departure at that....he also left Dery as you say on course for 20 points in the Prem, in the end they amassed 11, was that his legacy there? Forest - I will big him up there if you like, he took over when they were bottom 6, they had two good seasons, albeit he was not good enought o get them into the top two despite big spending for a Championship club, he has left and they are back to square 1. His best legacy was here, agreed? He does not build clubs like the great managers.

Exactly. I can't believe everyone has forgotten this point.

Billy said numerous times in Derby's promotion season that they weren't ready to make the step up yet, and that next season would be there season. Team spirit and high work ethic were enough to get them promoted that year.

The same year we slid from 1st to 7th, and the same year the team we beat 3 times in the season won the league (Sunderland).
