No worries mate.

Enjoy the rest of your evening.

And you, bud. Glad you got your prescriptions for your dog so cheaply (on the other thread) and are feeling so proud of what you`ve accomplished this week. Sleep tight.

Cheers mate.

Appreciated.

Although I don't like to use the word proud, that's you're choice of word, not mine.

It`s also a shame that the forum was not more tolerant of a user, patron, and volunteer forum moderator that was clearly the only person really distressed.

pity the other mods, seniors or admins (many who were in here when this was going on) didn't step in and pull the whole bloody thread, no use pointing one finger when so many have simply ducked their collective responsibility.

People speak in riddles - as the Voice of PNE Online I prefer to be honest and upfront, in fact people could learn a thing or two if they followed my lead.

Mulled that over for a while, but have to say that there is nothing that I could or would want to learn from you.

I am sure that someone else might take you up on your generous offer 🙂

Agree, actually.

This has not been PNE Online`s Finest Hour.

I've raised part of this. Pulling threads normally creates 2, one complaining about the pull and another to continue it. The lack of a quick option to silence users even temporarily is something this has highlighted the lack of I.e. Having to wait for others to be online. Doesn't excuse it, but it's so etching that potentially they need to consider in future

Agreed, even more saddening is that some users are posturing after the event like some sort of victor. Almost beggars belief.

Hopefully, it will lead to a frank discussion and fresh ideas. Not the fault of the mods, IMO, but the fault of the system.

Might be time to actually start listening to Bill - he does have some good ideas about the modding.

By the way, Jake - full credit to you for answering questions honestly and engaging in this debate. Parts of it have been very constructive.

There were two discussions running in parallel in this thread. One was constructive, the other completely and utterly destructive.

People need to get their kicks though...

jake don't look at others, collectively the whole mod team failed in their duty to manage and control what was posted in here, now you and 6p did try but as usual the admins and seniors sat on the hands with their thumbs up their arses and did sweet fanny adams, even today not a fucking peep from any of the magnificent 6.

I have banged on long enough about the lack of elected mods and this thread just proves my point, it will never change though as long as those 6 continue to show that they are not in the slightest bit interested in rocking their little boat.

Thanks, it's hard as there is a fine line between what we can and can't do. The feedback/honesty part is evidently something that can be useful it seems but sometimes it's not possible to be frank which is frustrating both for mods and also those affected who aren't privy.

Ultimately there are 3 users (in theory probably one of them) who has the legal ownership of the place that mods are primarily here to protect(legally that is).. When issues are down to personal levels that is different modding in terms of trying to keep the peace. I honestly didn't think that would be the biggest part of the role, and generally it hasn't been, but occasionally it is and it's the hardest part and one we maybe aren't up to

Bet this wasn't what you signed up for when you volunteered 😀

It is always tough when things get personal, especially when trying to navigate the forum dynamics and pick through the he-said she-said. It's even more difficult when you have long-standing vendettas, cliques, and dominant personalities to deal with. Throw in a troll (every forum has at least one) intent on spreading mayhem and revelling its own cleverness, and the task becomes nigh on impossible.

Could do with a grizzled old warhorse or two in the team, maybe - ultimately, it is up to us, as users, to elect the right mix.

Can't argue with much of that at all

Electing isn't the problem, it's getting people willing to do it(making lists of who you want as a mod for example is kind of a pointless vanity exercise "who might not ban me")

Finding someone stupid/insane/masochistic enough (not sure which of the three you are 😀) to mod is the perennial problem for any forum.

Hopefully, something positive will emerge from this thread 🙂

I am sure that some masochists will come forwards.

If not I will stand again to complete the 5.

At the moment I plan to abide by Billymac's informal 12 month stint rule.

Got to agree with Billy. Think this whole thing has carried on too long and the mods should have intervened long ago. I don't know if the mods sent PMs to the relevant parties warning them of their destructive behaviour. There are no innocent parties between WIBG and Nobber. Maybe rather than infractions senior mods can dish out a 2 day ban in the middle of some of those heated threads. A cooling off period if you like to both parties. WIBG knows what he was doing but Nobber only had to put him on ignore to diffuse the situation. You do not want to go too far and create a sterile forum lacking banter and humour. Another option in the case of extreme personality clashes is to enforce a permanent ignore if that is an option available to mods, obviously only after both parties have ignored previous warnings and infractions. Like I have said previously WIBG cand be witty and humourous although he does seem to revel in those that bite. I hope the mods are doing all they can to get Nobber back on the forum, as a long time member he will be sadly missed.
