Statistics and the new season

I seem to recall he received an awful lot of ridicule from quite a number of people for posting what they perceived as "dry" stats. His detractors constantly called him unpleasant names for it. At least I think I remember it correctly. Whether that is the reason for his disappearance, I'm not sure.

He came over from Canada and attended a game or two I seem to remember. Memory not the best these days.
He did get a lot of stick then he started giving it back and if anything he became the worst of the lot. 😂

He was definitely Canadian.

I think you're right LiS. I remember it now you mention it. I think he got quite aggressive in his replies, which was not like him usually. In the end I assume it all became too much so he just left. I wonder if he still looks in on us?

Conversely…

He still has an account with us so, Albertan, if you're reading this please get in touch. 🙂

He hasn't logged in since August 2017!

I don't even remember that tbh!
My wife’s uncle managed them for the last nine games. John Docherty was the Manager got sacked with nine games to go, gave the job to Bob Pearson who was only the chief scout. I’m sure they lost all of them but he kept is job has chief scout the following year.

They’d been top of the first division in September of the season they were last relegated - 1990 I think.

100%.
If you ever get chance to listen to 'Deano' live, take it.
The most authentic, down to earth guy in football.

Another month gone, this time we pulled ourselves back to the targets I suggested. We are sitting around 7 points below the average line for 1st place and around 4 points below where we should be for second. We are, however, a point above where we needed to be to be on track for 6th.
Looking at the way the league is shaping up second place looks at the minute like it could be around 84 points, 4 below average, whilst 6th place looks likely to be around average (74 points). Looking at the table I do think Millwall's position is likely to change. They have played 10 of their 18 games at home, where they average 1.9 points per game. They are averaging 1.4 PPG away from home. The negative goal difference makes you think that the are vulnerable. Ipswich could move above us if they win at Blackburn on Tuesday. Birmingham v Watford tomorrow won't have any effect on our position. December is another 6 match month. You would hope Wrexham, and Norwich at home and Oxford away nets us 9 points. Coventry have an excellent away record (W6 D2 L1 Gf25 Ga11), so anything from them will be good. Wrexham are reasonably solid at home, where like Millwall they have plaved 10 of their 18 games (W4 D4 L2 Gf15 Ga13) so again anything there also good. Stoke have a similar home record to us and are only above us on goal difference, so again I'd take a draw. 9 points keeps us on target, but 12 would be an excellent return. Overall that's 2 fifths of the season gone and we are sitting well.
Well December was largely dissapointing, 7 points from 6 games. Even more disappointing was that the Norwich game was the only one I was back for. Some in the AKTE suggested I should stay in Portugal. We now sit 12 points below the 1st place line, about 9 points below the 2nd place line and 1 and a half points below the play-offs line. Also, behind the monthly target I suggested at the start of the thread.
Form wise for the last 6 matches we are 17th out of 24. Home form for the last 4 home matches we are 22nd. I'm hoping alarm bells are ringing somewhere. I havent normally bothered too much with Manager statistics but Heckingbottom after 68 games has a win percentage of 27.94% and is averaging 1.279 points per game. The only managers in the last 25 years with a worse record are Craig Brown, Phil Brown, Westley and Fergusson. I accept that last seasons figures make it worse, but we could probably pick bits out of anyone's time and say that.
So to January. 6 League Matches again, Sheff Weds, Derby, and Hull at home; Bristol City, Middlesbrough, and Ipswich away and an FA Cup game. Sheff W are 21st on away form(D1 L3), Derby 9th (W1 D1 L2), and Hull 1st (W3 D1) Bristol are 11th on away form (W2 D1 L1), Middlesbrough 12th (W2 D1 L1) and Ipswich 4th (W3 D1). Now I can't see 12 points out of that as things are at the moment, even 6 or 7 is looking through very rose tinted specs.
I'm starting to think that my jokey 62 points and 11th at the start of this thread is looking more likely than play-offs, although I think around 68-70 points and 9th or 8th are more likely just now.

Anyway, Happy New Year
