The reason being that no-one trusts the owners to replace him with anything remotely suitable.
And if we sell and don't reinvest, it'd cause huge pressure from the fan base after being told that player sales will go back into the budget. Could make things pretty toxic which could push a sale.

The worst that could happen is relegation, but relegation isn't the end of the world. The asking price would reduce and we may get new owners.

But maybe they will reinvest it and we might actually start to genuinely progress as a club.

Nah, easier to give up and cry.

Not a chance there'll be any pressure from our fanbase.

I must still be half asleep because I’m sure I’ve just read someone genuinely suggesting Milly is better than Liam Delap
You must be. I said is Delap much better than Milly? That’s not even close to saying Milly is better than Delap

Notice Milwall fans today are fine with Tanganga moving on as well. No clinging, no tears, just 10m is a great price, let's sign someone better.

Here, the mere suggestion we should sell Osmajic sends many into high pitch whimpering on the ground.
Defenders are easier to replace than strikers.

I'd have no problems, as one example, if our best CH - Gibson - went for £8m / £10m as a random crazy fee example.

I don't believe the asking price would reduce.

The only thing that would reduce would be (1) the budget (2) crowds (3) income.

The division that a club is in has an impact on the price of a football club. It's already high as it is, they wouldn't keep it the same if we were to be relegated.

Still, maybe it won't be enough of a reduction for someone to buy us, but there's more of a chance, which is why teams below Championship are bought more than ones that are in it.

You are dealing with a woman who doesn't like Football, only Balance Sheets.

They'll point out that the costs to any buyer are lower as a way of maintaining the same (ish) sale price.

Announce good Johnson

We don't really know unless it actually happens. But I'd rather not live in fear over the thought of selling our best players, because our ceiling doesn't increase to be genuine promotion contenders unless we start doing it. Outside of wishful thinking for the completely perfect storm, like we've been doing for years.
