The thing is if he’s not sold he won’t play again and then we have a £20k a week player on the books who won’t play and will get nothing for in 12 months time or very little in January. The only way he plays for us again is if he apologies to everyone. Because I can imagine him not getting a warm reception from the fans if he ever plays for us again
Too late for any apology.

He has well and truly burnt his PNE Bridge as far as I'm concerned.

I didn't want him starting anyway never mind captain, this is a good thing for the team in my opinion although not great timing.

Hes never been captain material and one of the reasons when the team is in a bad run we can't get out of it because we've no real leader who the team trusts and respects and their captain.

Get him gone for anything over a million.

Then go straight through him IF he gets a game when we play Wrexham

Surely it would be better to get him off the payroll and add a couple of million to any transfer kitty that we may have for new players.
If Wrexham are prepared to pay our valuation to allow us the funds to purchase a replacement (s).
If Wrexham don't want to pay is there any interest from other clubs??
If not then he can train with the youth and wait until his contract expires, see which big clubs then want him.🤔

worth mentioning that a lot of wrexham fans don’t think whiteman will pass the “parky test”. Seen a load of Wrexham fans saying the same thing on X after hecky had come out and exposed whitemans actions. I hope they walk away from the deal and whiteman rots.
We’d just be cutting our nose off to spite our face?

Always look to do what’s best for OUR club. Take the fee and freeing up the wages and we go and strengthen.

Couldn’t care less about Whiteman. We’ll have all forgotten by the end of August.

I have no doubt Whiteman wants to leave and he is looking after himself if he is entering the final year of his contract.

It is mightly convenient for the current owners and manager however to deflect the attention on Ben at a time when the club is in a mess because they seemingly cannot afford to improve the squad and the takeover seems to have hit a wall.

Then throw Hecky in front of the press and tell us all to shout at bad Ben while hiding behind the manager.

That doesn't seem remotely like Hecky's style.

Sorry if not allowed. Notlob Ticket Office liking the update. 😂😂

I’d rather the manager left but I do think he was absolutely correct in the way he spoke yesterday. He stated his and the club’s position clearly, stated what Whiteman had said/done - all whilst having a very stern demeanour that said how absolutely unhappy was.

I’d have liked him to have shown a copy of the team sheet with Whiteman’s name on it to prove he had the opportunity to play - in fact, if he’s still here next weekend I’d like him to pick him in the team - but it was handled very well.

On the contrary it's not convenient in the slightest. Pretty much every part of this leads to a backlash, other than selling him for a good fee.

Sell him for less than £3m and you'll likely have some fans saying we should have got more.

Fail to get a replacement in and fans will be unhappy (especially when we're already annoyed at how short we are).

Fail to sell him and you'll have fans annoyed he's still here and will be leaving on a free next summer. If we're struggling this season too, you can guarantee there'll be a section of the fanbase asking why he hasn't been forgiven and isn't playing. If he does play, another section of the fanbase will be annoyed he is playing as he doesn't want to be here.

It's not much of a deflection, it's just another problem we have to deal with.

If wrexham have spoken to him or his agent without our permission surely that’s is an illegal approach.
Should that not then be reported to the FA? Just cause they have money doesn’t mean they’re above the rules. We could of course add what fine they’re likely to get onto the transfer fee and not report them.

You'd have to report every transfer in modern history in that case.

Although I agree, I presume all clubs do that to some degree. Wasn’t there something similar when Whiteman wanted to come to Deepdale to showcase his footballing talent?

In all fairness to Hecky he used that interview to call out the owners more than anything. ‘I’m not bothered as long as we get another player.’

As much as I’m happy for Hecky to leave he seemingly isn’t happy with the state of the squad and he knows the owners need to be doing more to improve it.

All this ‘deflecting’ maybe so. But I thought it was a refreshingly honest interview. The blame should lie on whiteman. All this ‘any other player would do the same’ is just bollocks.

You didn’t see Marc guehi refuse to play when he didn’t sign for Liverpool last season. I would probably understand it more if it was a prem club and whiteman was a top championship player. But he’s fucking Ben whiteman. The titanic moves quicker.

That sort of thing is the norm now and widely accepted.

It seems we pretty much all agree Whiteman is not in our future and that he has been an average player for us.

But he’s also been captain, a regular starter and on many set pieces.

The question then becomes if our assessment is wrong, if the manager is wrong, or if we’re simply threadbare so average is better than the alternatives.

For a transfer thread, I’m going with that option. We need quality competition in fast.
