Whiteman has been acting like a prick for sometime. Clearly wants out and thinks he's better than he is. Certainly puts his Insta post about one of our fans in a new light.

What he's done now is bring the whole club into it and exposed our lack of preparedness for the season.

August 2026 becomes the biggest month in recent history for PNE. It's not really about the squad for the Bolton game. It's about how we look as a squad come September 1st.

If the takeover is to truly happen, the funds are needed now to get the squad ready. Otherwise it's a very tough season ahead.

I agree we need to continue in loans. I was just meaning we can't look to 'build a team' around them. If we sign permanent players to supplement loanees then we're forever chasing our tail. We just need quality to ensure we can scrape by year on year at present.
That's unfortunately the position we are in, and will need to continue with this season, until hopefully the ownership changes.

Let’s say we do the very unlikely and get 5/6 players in before Bolton, I just don’t see how they all get into the eleven for the game or even how they’d gel properly if they were thrown in.

So it means we’ll either be seeing a familiar lineup of lower Championship plodders or a team of strangers, it’s a balls up either way.

Basically wasted a pre season and a trip to Spain for bonding on a bang average group of players for the most part lead by a captain who hasn’t wanted to be here for a while clearly.

This pre season has been really poor, one of the worst I can remember. Hopefully this can be a turning point, sell and reinvest asap.

This is an issue too if any are free agents. Missed a whole preseason, so they'll be playing catch-up both to get up to speed with fitness, and being match sharp.

All true, but we can recover from that easily if we get the players in we need.

Wrexham have us over the barrel now unless another club makes an offer. We are in a weak position paying high wages to a player who won’t be playing for us. No reason for Wrexham to increase their rumoured offer of £1.1m + add ons compared to our rumoured asking price of 2.0m + add ons. If I was Parkinson I would lower the offer provided he has not been put off by Whiteman’s behaviour
Don't see that at all...we hold his contract...not them...we aren't in a weak spot. Granted there might have to be a compromise pn both parts and maybe we wait...but we can...and should. Suspect it gets done around what we paid for him

Seen a few turn their nose up at Ogbene and again as I said with Hirst, I really don’t think we can be turning our nose up at him either.

He’d certainly be a starter in our squad and like it or not he’s also versatile to play RWB or RW.
Would be a good loan option but wouldn't want to offer a permanent deal to someone pushing 30 who is a pace merchant. We know how that would go.

Alan Browne moved and I believe got a contract at Sunderland at considerably more money than he was on at PNE. Why would he come back to less money. He wouldn’t be a direct replacement for Ben Whiteman as he plays on the right of midfield or right wingback.
Looking at it from BW’s perspective, he’s done his best at PNE and even been made team captain and Wrexham’s offer is going to give him his last big payday and a chance to be in the promotion challengers. He’s been frustrated at the owner not being willing to let him go but he’s not seeing our point of view. Everyone has a price, so I’m assuming Wrexham haven’t offered enough to tempt us. Throwing his toys out of the pram, if Wrexham don’t come back with a better offer, he might find himself having to play with the kids.
It’s an awful situation but no fault of the management or owners imo.

He won’t be the first, he won’t be the last, the club has to make a stand, for the long term interests of football in general.

Agree. Ogbene comes into our squad and starts as a RW. Don’t get me wrong, I’d prefer Mills everyday of the week but Ogbene would improve us whether folk want to accept it or not.

Similarly with Hirst. It’s a low bar but he’d be a massive improvement on Smith.

The general belief was entirely the opposite ie we’d have paid him more.
