It kinda depends what we want them doing. Small is left footed, but played on the right as an attacker for Charlton, presumably because they wanted their wide players cutting inside on their strong foot.
That's usually the case with a 4-3-3/4-5-1/4-2-3-1 sort of formation.
However you could also just play wingers on their natural side, and have them attempt to stay wide and put crosses in. It's a bit more 1 dimensional, and tends to be more likely in a 2 striker formation where you have more targets to aim for.
