Team v Wolves.

Team v Wolves.

That's just a list of my starting 11 not necessarily in the positions

Rather like Eric Morecambe's rendition of the Grieg Piano Concerto: 'All the right notes but not necessarily in the right order'. As it is the optimal selection from those players would assuming Clarke proves as good as we all hope probably be:

Iversen
Clarke, Offiah, Gibson, Vukcevic
McCann, Leroy
Small, Devine, Moran
Erabi

In fact it is difficult to suggest how that could be improved from present resources especially if we assume that Osmajic will be gone by the end of the window - I wonder if we will even see him again. Storey at right centre-back might bring a degree of experience that Offiah possibly lacks while Lang in place of Moran might add combativeness the expense of guile but we have absolutely no-one who could effectively replace either of that deep midfield duo.

After 30 minutes at Bolton I turned to my mate and asked him where had Burgzorg gone I only knew he was on the pitch because the team announcer said so.

Lang was awful yet again, on his performances so far we have definitely had our pants pulled down by Pompey

Osmajic will be gone but i suspect he will start Saturday as will Storey.

I am looking forward to hopefully seeing Leroy get a start as he looked the business in his cameo appearance, a similar player to Ben W but with a better range of passing and aware of what was happening and what to do.

We need to give Moran sometime as well.

Clarke should give the defence some solidity and confidence as he is a proper right back.

Big 5 games coming up for Hecky or he might not make Halloween

Wolves keeper Dan Bentley, that played all of preseason and last Friday, is joining Cov as backup. Likely Jose Sa comes back in after spending all of summer telling Wolves he doesn’t want to stay. Odd one

Must be gutting when your first choice leaves and you have to bring in a top Premier League keeper as a stand in. They should get Cornell.

Iversen

Offiah
Storey
Gibson
Vukcevic

Leroy
McCann
Devine

Small
Osmajic
Burgzorg

Doubtless Wolves will have plenty of the ball, so Osmajic’s threat on the counter might be beneficial. The offsides were frustrating last week, but he did make two great runs to get clean through twice.

Small the same. Think if we went something like Burgzorg-Erabi-Lang then we are just asking to get pushed way back and cede them 70+% possession.

I’d go for
Iverson
Clarke Offiah Gibson Vuk
Leroy McCann
Small Devine Burgzorg
Erabi

PH will line up as
Iverson
Offiah Storey Lindsey Hughes
Leroy McCann
Lang Devine Burgzorg
Erabi

With the lack of any incomings, and another week failing to get wingers in and waiting on Mills, I don’t see any other option than going with a back 5. You can’t go up against Wolves with Burgzorg and a half fit Small or Lang at RW

Iversen

Offiah Lindsay Hughes

Clarke Leroy McCann Vuk

Devine

Erabi Lang

Won’t be pretty. But it’ll be better than the half-cock, poorly setup rubbish we saw last week against a better side
