The king is back

The king is back

Remember being at the game and wondering who the hell was going to get the ball back when we lost it. The shcoking thing was what a terrible side Leeds were at that moment in time, as their demolition by Watford and relegation the next season proved.

How many games did we win 2-0 that season, especially at Deepdale, on the back of a strong work ethic, pressing the opposition and forcing them into mistakes. Only Billy will know why he completely abandoned that plan in the way he did.

In answer to your question, we won 5 home games 2-0 that season under Davies.

The same number that we won 2-0 under Irvine when he took us to the Championship play-offs 2 years ago.

The moral of this post is that if you want to make the play offs you must have 5 by 2 - 0 home game wins😉

Does anyone know anything concrete (rather than just making assumptions because there's a delay) about why BD's odds have stretched out so much?

Because everyone who fancied him to take over have already backed it.

Yes, but if they have collectively put a lot of money on at low odds then the odd's won't increase significantly unless a great deal of money goes on another candidates/candidates at higher odds. He is anything but a shoe in.

Much as I would love to have Billy back, after the dross we've had as managers since he left, I just can't see it. It's an ideal time for Uncle Trev to save a bit of money and have two current staff members run the team.
If someone like Billy were appointed, it would be a massive change of course by the owner, from getting the books in order, to going all out for promotion. I hope I'm wrong, and if I'm not wrong, I hope Grezza and Unsworth can achieve it under their own steam (promotion, that is).
Whatever I feel a massive sense of relief Brown has gone and maybe now we can see players play in their right positions for starters. I'm not expecting miracles, we have 3 tough games ahead. We need to be patient and give them a chance.

There were quite a few "well regarded" posters who essentially suggested that it a near certainty that BD would be appointed just a few days back. They are now conspicuous by their absence on this thread of late. What's changed, or was it just guess work as usual !!

Im not saying in any way BD is going to be appointed, but if he is (or anyone for that matter) it wont be until next week.
Why would they announce the management decision before todays game, it would distrubt the team, fans and staff.

To be fair, what they said was that Davies was the no.1 choice for PNE and that seems to have been the case. I'm guessing that he did not fancy it- not enough money available or whatever- and per the BBC journo, turned it down.

My worry is that signals they want a'big name experienced manager' to try and buy promotion, and the only other name on the list that fits that bill seems to be Dave Jones. I'd really rather give it to someone trying to make their name and working their way up, not down.

I don't believe he has turned us down yet. It would have been leaked out from either side that talks were no longer ongoing. I think we are talking to him, made an offer which wasn't accepted, but they still negotiating. We need to remember, Billy isn't just negotiating for himself, he's also negotiating for his staff as well.

Same here. Davies or Jones don't need to work again, have they the same hunger as before?

Some Swansea fans were no doubt disappointed when Brendan Rodgers was appointed there, Huddersfield fans were prob not over impressed when Lee Clark got the job there - would Joe Royle, Paul Jewell, Davies or Jones have done as well at those 2 examples?

danny dichio has gone up tpo 20-1, wouldn't be bad i reckon. i think the players would play well under his way of playing. great player, great man.
