Remember being at the game and wondering who the hell was going to get the ball back when we lost it. The shcoking thing was what a terrible side Leeds were at that moment in time, as their demolition by Watford and relegation the next season proved.
How many games did we win 2-0 that season, especially at Deepdale, on the back of a strong work ethic, pressing the opposition and forcing them into mistakes. Only Billy will know why he completely abandoned that plan in the way he did.
The moral of this post is that if you want to make the play offs you must have 5 by 2 - 0 home game wins😉In answer to your question, we won 5 home games 2-0 that season under Davies.
The same number that we won 2-0 under Irvine when he took us to the Championship play-offs 2 years ago.
Does anyone know anything concrete (rather than just making assumptions because there's a delay) about why BD's odds have stretched out so much?
On one of the other threads I thought you'd put money down on Billy Davies because it was so certain?
Because everyone who fancied him to take over have already backed it.
There were quite a few "well regarded" posters who essentially suggested that it a near certainty that BD would be appointed just a few days back. They are now conspicuous by their absence on this thread of late. What's changed, or was it just guess work as usual !!
To be fair, what they said was that Davies was the no.1 choice for PNE and that seems to have been the case. I'm guessing that he did not fancy it- not enough money available or whatever- and per the BBC journo, turned it down.
My worry is that signals they want a'big name experienced manager' to try and buy promotion, and the only other name on the list that fits that bill seems to be Dave Jones. I'd really rather give it to someone trying to make their name and working their way up, not down.
