Matchday Thread The Plastics v Preston North End - 10/11/23 - KO:8PM - Championship

Mad how committed our away support is. Something to be properly proud of. When you consider our average is bigger than Leeds ffs! It’s a real anomaly, surely only Plymouth rival us in that top 10 in terms of smallest discrepancy between average home and away attendance. How is it explained? Is the core of our fanbase just committed as fuck?

You also have to remember that someone like Leeds will also have a limit put on them at most grounds.

They would be limited to six thousand at Deepdale but would probably bring double that if we gave them he option.

That no way denegrates our support and if we had spent some time in the Prem our support would be even better, we do brilliant.

There is also the fact that there is a great sense of comraderie amongst the fans at away matches. In an odd way for someone like me it is more like being back in Preston than actually being back in Preston.

Splitting the one end is usually more difficult that simply handing that one end to the Away Team . Less aggravation, chances of violence/ stewards / police. - all the stuff the cost of which is loaded-onto the pockets of those fans. Sure, some people want to get 'tasty' with the home fans & always will. Take the Crappool game at Deepdale last season. Because of the Club-level 'handbags' it meant only a tiny amount of Lasher's could come. When they did there was ( rightly ) a big no-fan-zone all round between 'them' and 'some-of-us'. Don't tell me the atmosphere didn't suffer because of that. (Hey, they started this shit & we could take as many to Bloomfield as we did to Ewood on Friday ). Swings & Roundabouts.
Give the Away lot as many as wants to come, and if there's no room for PNE fans As Well, they could go int' Krazy Korner.

Strange in the Championship that there has to be large empty zones at most games between rival fans, but it doesn’t seem to be the case at Premiership games, with very often just a line of stewards being the dividing line.

I don’t go to many away games these days but I do want to go to one or two in the new year….

Watford and QPR look quite appealing …..

Has Gentry Day been decided yet ??

At Hull City there was only a line of Steward's/Police separating our fans and theirs at each side in a 'Bowl' stadium.
We always have a full block buffer at Deepdale for segregation, don't know why?

Maybe just that the only times there's enough demand to split the Kop are also games with a higher risk of a kick off?

That mahoosive club, Wovers.

Rovers fans should definitely get the award for making up the most and best excuses….

The ref was awful, should never ref another game.
We are very physical.
They have 67 injured players.
Their wage bill has been cut (what a shame).
They havnt signed a £10 million striker.
The Venkys are not backing them.
The executive management is useless.
We committed 17 fouls just prior to our last minute winner.
The sun was in their keepers eyes ( I made this one up 🙄😂).
Our yellow kit clashed with the green pitch and it made them unhappy.
We had too many fans at the cup final.
We were driven on because we would have an open top bus parade if we beat them.
Dolan is really a secret agent.
The game was on Sky.
They don’t like Fridays…

It wasn’t the sun in their eyes. It was the yellow shirts they perceived as the sun.

Can’t win in their eyes with the travelling support. We take a good following and it’s only because it’s our ‘cup final’ (untrue) and if we don’t they’d call us a tinpot club with shit support.
Meanwhile in Lasherland they claim the figures are falsely inflated.

I saw one post which claimed they were always vulnerable when playing ‘alehouse’ teams even though there was nothing remotely’alehouse’ with the quality of our goals.
Just sour grapes.
