We’re going down

We’re going down

Ive not given up hope at all. Its still very early. Weve seen teams promoted from our position in the past . It doesnt look good however and soke fsir points on here.
If we are bottom 3 at xmas , then id fancy us to go down.

Lincoln weren't very good but they knew what to do.
Watford weren't very good but changed it.
Rovers were poor.
Bolton worked hard and took their gifts well.

What are Preston?
Are we a footballing team. Physical? Hard working grafters? Deadly on the break?
I'm struggling to see what we are or can be.

Could and should have got something from Lincoln and Watford. Bristol we were the better side and threw it away at QPR.
Our league position and general feel good factor could have been so much better going into the international break.
As it is, early doors we're in the shit.

Like you say @Hodgeheg 2.0 , league position really isn’t reflective of our performances.

Unfortunately has so far this season has shown performance don’t means wins and points. Longer term if you are playing well you would expect to pick up more wins then loses but I think output biggest problems tend to be individual mistakes costing us along with not being able to cope with 90 mins off football

Wow! To me, that’s all down to shoddy in-game management, mentality and proper coaching.

Honestly, if we find a competent manager and a coach or two to come in and fix the important problems (a hard task but doable), like:

- Get the players to be able to do the basics and be able to retain possession and control the game better than a Sunday league team.

- Sure up and organise the defence so we aren’t leaking goals for fun. Coach them into being able to attack more cohesively and take our chances. I see no reason after a handful of games we couldn’t find ourselves lower midtable and closer to safety.

To me, all down to the coaching, and hopefully, we are able to improve the coaching and remove the frauds from the club.

What we are at the moment is directionless.

Talking generally.
The time for fans to be ultra negative is January or February, in the New Year if things haven't altered.

For now, we have a new Manager coming in who hopefully will be bring more than just an assistant (because that's what's needed) with new ideas, who hopefully already knows that the Players are behind the curve fitness wise, so with a plan and intention to fix that first and foremost.
And then to sort out a way of Playing that suits the squad.
Surely, at the moment, we have to be positive that a new regime can sort things out on the Pitch - otherwise what's the point?

To say it's all down to coaching is a bit daft and simply blaming it all on the management team which isn't right.

We've not scored the number of goals our chances have warranted (for once)

And we have conceded more than what the numbers suggest we should've. Which there's been some honking errors in just the eight games so far. Iversen parrying it straight to the Bolton player. Lindsay passing the ball three feet back to the GK. Devine completely scuffing a clearance. Just the few off the top of my head.

Yes, a new manager could potentially help things and sure things up more. The performances over first 45-60 minutes for the most part have shown there are some decent levels there that just need to be maintained, which gives some positive things to work on. But there's been some really poor moments in both boxes which is down to the players, that are professional footballers making really bad mistakes, which has caused some of these results.

I personally disagree. As I’ve said on here before, supposed ‘shoddy in-game management’ is already baked into the numbers.

If the structure and the coaching was such a disaster then that would also be reflected in the underlying numbers.

I don’t think we’re going down, but I disagree with any suggestion that we have a very good group of players just waiting to be unlocked by a new manager (who will be faced with the very same issues we’ve seen so far this season, btw).

Yeah I can agree with that.

like that table shows we have shown something to warrant results in some games but individual errors have cost us too.

But do believe that the coaching or the embedding of tactical ideas is a very low standard atm - down to a mixture of poor playing style and what they're actually being coached.

A lot of the players can’t seem to string more than 3 passes together half the time. We look devoid of ideas in and out of possession - we either sit back and just soak pressure or punt it forward hoping to score. There’s no control, patterns of play, cohesive build up play or organisation on show at all.

By shoddy in-game management that was primarily aimed towards the coaching staff than the players - poor subs, too reactive and not proactive enough to how the opposition has changed at half-time and not directing the players on how to counter these changes in the game. Obviously, the players should be able to have a mind of their own, but it’s overseen by the manager. So yeah, I’d hope a new manager would be able to come in and show a difference towards all that.

I disagree. If all that was the case, we would have the poor results and also the poor underlying numbers. But I do agree that it could be better. And hopefully will be.
