These stats reflect far worse on Greenwood and Mads than they do Whiteman. At least he plays deeper. That said I'd be getting shut of all 3.

Greenwood, McCann and Thordarsson all in the bottom left and all been part of our first choice midfield for most of the year
Is it any surprise it’s been as horrible to watch as it has been?
In Thor's defence, he very rarely opts for the safe choice. It's why him and McCann were starting to look like a good, balanced partnership.
Our main issue is that we're always outnumbered in the middle, everyone else has ditched this completely flawed formation.

I’ve never really understood the constant criticism of him. We employ significantly worse players who get a much easier ride. Thought he played fine yesterday and thought he was MOTM against Hull.

I don't think that chart tells you very much of anything useful.

Yeah, it might just be me, but all it does is reinforce that Whiteman plays deep.
You'd expect a deeper midfielder to receive the ball more and to pass forward more than the more advanced midfielders.
Whatever fans think of our captain, it'd certainly be nice to know when his current contract ends. It feels like the club are embarrassed about how long a deal his agent extracted from our top negotiator Peter.I’ve never really understood the constant criticism of him. Bingo. The fact that Brownhill, who has been outstanding this season in an attacking role, is in the bottom left should tell people that it's really nothing to do with quality.
For a while, you could make easy money from bookmakers on passes completed by certain centre halves simply because the teams played it out from the back and they’d get plenty of touches. They’ve cottoned on now though!Bingo. Presumably there’s a set of statistics that document the number of times players are caught ball watching, caught flat footed or don’t move for a return pass.

It tells you that, given Thordarsson over the course of the season has played in a similar position, that it’s probably unfair to label Whiteman with the ‘sideways and backwards’ nonsense.I don't think that chart tells you very much of anything useful.
And Haniball is in that area too. The chart says pass us upfield, doesn’t make sense.Bingo. The fact that Brownhill, who has been outstanding this season in an attacking role, is in the bottom left should tell people that it's really nothing to do with quality.

It's basically telling us how often a player gets on the ball and the amount they play a ball forward.
Thing is we don't quite have the context from this chart. A forward ball could be from a central midfielder out to a full back who is a bit more advanced than him. It might be forward but it doesn't necessarily help us.
The stat I would be curious about is 'packing', which would tell us how many opposition players are bypassed. I suspect our midfielders generally are low on that (although, that is in part due to our lack of movement).

I can't see Whiteman being involved in too many goals like the one we scored against Burnley in the Cup.

Half of Thor's games have been playing further forward, which is what will put him further into the bottom left. It says more about the role in the team.It tells you that, given Thordarsson over the course of the season has played in a similar position, that it’s probably unfair to label Whiteman with the ‘sideways and backwards’ nonsense.
Although I do agree, it is exaggerated about the forward passing. He is doing it more. My issues with him are more his pace and tempo, and isn't particularly press resistant and doesn't get open enough for the ball unless he's dropping very deep. But even Thor isn't that great at the latter.

Or if it has a relegation clause ? Wouldn’t put it past sleepy Pete not to have .Whatever fans think of our captain, it'd certainly be nice to know when his current contract ends. It feels like the club are embarrassed about how long a deal his agent extracted from our top negotiator Peter.
Anyone got the stats on points won with Whiteman in the team vs out the team this season?
Pretty sure since he came back into the starting XI around the villa game we haven’t won since (against abysmal teams).
Thor was having a decent time in the DM position and seems to have lost his way since Whitemans been back in.
I’d be starting Ledson with Thor on Saturday, which is crazy to say. Dropping your captain for a must win game!

Think I read we had won 3 league games with him playing. Not sure about draws.Anyone got the stats on points won with Whiteman in the team vs out the team this season?

Our winning run at the start of last season was when Whiteman was out injured.Anyone got the stats on points won with Whiteman in the team vs out the team this season?

It's 3 league wins with Whiteman starting (out of our 10 league wins in total).Enough said .
For added context, it's 2 league wins with Potts starting, 2 league wins with Brady starting, 4 league wins with Ledson starting, 4 league wins with Greenwood starting, 7 league wins with McCann starting, 9 league wins with Mads starting, 9 league wins with Thordarson starting.
(These stats take no account of if/when they were subbed etc.)
