Decent signing looks like he’s found his feet form wise late ish in his career judging by his record over the last few seasons though his best season was at league one level

In our situation, I think he’s a smart pick-up, although we’ve somehow paid a fee again (#WDP 🙄).
But let’s not pretend that our situation is anything other than trying to stay in this division.
If Lowe is straight about that for once, it will buy him more time than if he starts chatting Fantasy Island nonsense about the play-offs.
We’re going to have one of the oldest squads in the league. We’re not building anything here. We’re in survival mode, on and off the pitch.
It’s a grim realisation, but let’s not pretend otherwise. 🫤

Carroll wasn’t ready for a loan at this level at the time. I’m amazed he had the career he did based on that spell.
Welbeck was obviously massively talented. (Goal vs Ipswich for example).
Keane has done little in his career save these last two seasons. Hopefully he understands his game properly now and at 30 he should do. On paper probably about as it’s going to get for us in the market we shop in.
Not particularly excited but optimistic. He know the league and knows where the net is.

I thought Carroll would be good due to the control and good feet he showed but he was so lanky. Just a year or two off at that stage. Paul Simpson said he'd never experienced the off the field stuff he had to put up with in that loan spell before or after with any player 😂
I don't know what relevance Carroll and Welbeck have with Keane. They both played for England within 48 months of leaving us. Keane left us years ago and has only ever been a success at League 1.
And if you can't write your opinions on a football forum, then it's kind of pointless logging on.
But at least we can agree on the last sentence.

Shrewd addition this. Anyone know what the fee is? Can't imagine a lot but great we've finally purchased 3 players this week. We still need a pacy forward to complement Keane (and Ched when fit) but at least we're assessing things somewhat.
He was only about 21-22 last time and was behind some very experienced strikers so unfair to judge I think.
His scoring record was much better at Wigan than I give him credit for actually, thought he was just a 10-12 striker but he scored 20 + when they got promoted from league 1 and scored plenty start of the season in championship before their financial problems hit.
Good to actually get a CF in for pre season though. Signing some midfielders had temporarily blinded people that the current forward options were completely laughable to start a championship season so hopefully two more are signed before August 5th.

He's scored similar goals that both Parrott and Delap both missed on numerous occasions last season. It looks a decent bit of business and lets say it quietly, they are putting a team together and not just a bunch of players. A couple more in the right places and it

Then you will slate Lowe for lowering expectations. He’s a bit of a motor mouth and that will probably never change.
But Lowe will get slated if he said ‘our aim is just to stay in the division.’ Remember earlier last season when he said we were overachieving? He got slaughtered for it.
We’ve had a good week with signings. Let’s continue that into next week. We need to start the season wel though. That was our biggest downfall last season.

I would compare the signing of Keane to the time we signed Ched, who I thought at the time wasn’t a particularly inspired signing. How wrong I was. Hopefully Keane can bring more to the table than we might expect. Good luck and welcome Will.
