I`m abstaining.

The reason is that I don`t know what Hemmings wants. And whatever he wants, re a Chairman, is what I`d vote for.

(As an aside, after reading the thread, I don`t agree that DS is to blame for appointing Irvine. He came recommended by David Moyes, and none of us had any idea his siging policy would be so poor and wasteful. And to be fair, he did keep us up in his first season.
However, I do blame him for appointing Simmo..a period when the rot started to become terminal. It was an uninspired choice, and imo his biggest mistake.)

He still fooking appointed him though, So what if he was recommended. DS is to blame end of, He does all the hiring and firing.

Would you have posted this question today if Blackpool had got beat yeterday?

Absolutely , yesterday was little more than just an unwelcome reminder what a small club can do if its chairman is positive and not always talking them down . By chance are you a friend of Derek,s ? .

I have always supported DS. I think he has pulled off some fantastic deals at times. It was him who managed to negotiate fees of £5m for Macken and £6m for Nugent amongst others. It was DS that negotiated the deal with the NHS for the new stand, essentially saving the club the approx £10m needed to finish off our fantastic ground.

But this last few weeks have been the 1st time I have thought a change of Chairman is needed. I feel absolutely let down by my club over the HMRC fiasco. I say yes, I am sure there is somebody who fits the bill and would do it for the £150k a year salary DS reportedly gets.

We would only be able to do such a thing, after holding a open meeting, and deciding as a group what action we should take.

We have done this before, and If our members wanted us to do this again, then I'm sure we can arrange it.

In the meantime we have contacted the club's general manager with queries with regards the Winding Up petition and also the Season Ticket Price increase.

We are let to receive a reply, when normally one comes very quickly the club have 2 more days to acknowledge this query as part of their club charter.

I would stress that we would only be representing our members, and that we are a supporters group and not a pressure group.

However we have been advised previously that contacting Trevor Hemmings directly could have a detrimental effect on the club.🙁

I for one would think a meeting with the club, and supporters would be a good idea.

A couple of points, firstly I appreciate that you're not a pressure group but these are issues concerning every Preston North End fan and the impression I get, albeit as a non-member, is that as a group you could get the answers that others can't because you're a group.

I'm glad to hear that the club have been contacted regarding the winding up petition and the season tickets but perhaps you can explain the process behind this, did you have to have a meeting first to decide whether to e-mail them and then what wording was to go in the e-mail?? That may sound like I'm taking the michael there, but I'm trying to understand the difference between asking the club's response on season tickets and the winding-up petition - and asking the major shareholders for their "vision of the future" if you like.

As for the non-contact of Trevor Hemmings, I fail to see how anybody would be offended by a supporters group contacting them with well thought out questions about their plans for the future of the club. Infact that's just ridiculous. Just to be clear though, I'm not just talking about putting these questions to Hemmings but ALL of the major shareholders - the Friends of PNE, Master Patel aka the boy wonder, etc etc. We didn't ask for these people to take control of the club, but they're here and we're the ones putting our hard earned money into the club so surely they could have the decency to respond. I know that you don't want to rock the boat but come on, you (and I don't specifically mean you but the group members) can't criticise the club and yet go along to whatever meetings you have and nod your head all the way through.

As I've said there's a sense of apathy around this club that is going to be incredibly difficult to shake. It may just be that my logic is skewed from sunstroke but doesn't it all seem a bit daft though that everyone's gunning for Shaw and yet the other shareholders aren't held accountable for what they've done or haven't done because they don't want to be contacted... or is it just me?

Come on. People have been going on about it for a long time now. The most part of last season. It may be a trigger in some people's eyes, but it is certainly an aspect of the club which needs addressing urgently.

The guy is clueless.

I'm not saying he shouldn't go,in fact the club does need an overhaul, its just the smacked arse attitude from posters on here because the lashers have gone up,same has the dingles last year.

What puzzles me,is why does everyone thing that shaw is the top dog at PNE?😕

I maybe wrong, but i though he was just the front man so to speak, although not a handsome one like you joe😉😀

Well, he has been chairman of this club for long enough now. He is the one feeding us the bullshit about 'punching above our weight'. He is the one who publicly takes us all for idiots.

Patience will only stand for so long.

And handsome, he ain't!

p.s. Seen much of Salford ths season??

Cheers for your questions mate, and I have no problem explaining.

I'm sure that you will appreciate as a group we have to be very careful, not to claim that we are representing all North End fans, as silly as it sounds, whenever we every say anything as a group, or even as a poster on here, some sections of the PNE support start slating us. Im sure you have already seen this on another thread.

With regards emailing the club with our concerns, this action was taken with a majority vote of the committee via email, text etc. Quite rightly we feel it is only fair to give the club a chance to respond.

We would then distribute this around , the committee members, and if we felt it would require a further response we would all meet up and take it from there. Obviously we do take on board fans who we speak to, and during the season we have a coach full of members, who we can discuss issues with, to gage a view.

With regards your point as a whole, we have discussed this before and decided against it, for various reasons. Obviously the mood of the majority our supporters has changed over the past 12 months, and maybe we could review it again. If it is felt this could help in some way, then of course we would do it.

I would say though, that for most of the year it was looking like a Supporters Trust was being set up, and that was something they were going to take up.

I hope that explains things a bit clearer for you.

Regards
John

True. I agree, his is the responsibility, ultimately.

However, the point I`m making...badly it seems...is that this decision, though wrong, was more understandable, as at the time it seemed reasonable, and Irvine was recommended by someone we respect..David Moyes...who both knew Irvine and has affection for North End.

For this reason, I blame DS more for the Simpson debacle than for Irvine`s failings.

.

Some good points.

Hemmings has only ever done about 3 interviews in his entire life so I would assume attempts to contact him directly would be futile anyway.

He has no doubt got his henchmen on the case and ultimately what happens to PNE is in his hands. Dont forget he used to give Chorley £100k per year to keep them going, but pulled the plug and they nearly went bust.

I agree about the other shareholders not pulling their weight so to speak. The last time that FOPNE invested any money was a few years ago from what I can find, someone maybe able to correct me. They ploughed in a massive £900k at the same time as Hemmings ploughed in with £4.8 million.

The fact that the club have said leave Hemmings alone makes me think that the reason this is becoming a long drawn out affair is because he has had enough and wants his money back.

Shaw, whilst bartering deals for Nugent and Macken worth over £10 million, you have to take into consideration how much he has lost us and tried to make it up by trying to charge us over the odds for shit football.

Ferguson jnr constantly goes on about the club needing freshening up, perhaps that includes the wallies who run the club too??

To be fair Jersey White we have been fed negativity for way too long. I believe we went to both play off finals with the players well aware we are club satisified with what we have. I believe AI bought experienced championship players (good or bad) because his brief was to keep us in this division.

I cannot say I have heard any other chairman moan quite as much as ours about attendances (despite both dingles and lashers being smaller🙄)🙄. Hell he even told us recently poo fans were louder than ours - well they dont have to listen to put downs and moans on a regular basis. If the fans are now negative what do you damned well expect.

Your right joan,he is a dour sod,I'm not even sticking up for him,but it seems on this board if you dont come on and call him all the names under the sun you get accused of being a friend of his.

It does clear things up somewhat, and although I appreciate that you want to stay onside with the club, the truth of the matter is that us supporters are only going to have a voice if its through a group such as yourselves. Perhaps you do get unfair criticism though, and I accept that maybe I'm as much to blame as anyone there, but you must understand the frustration too when people don't hear what the main supporters group are doing.

The reason why I asked for a bit more detail was that I had a quick glance at the club charter and couldn't understand why it took so long to e-mail the club or how you could agree to contact the club on one matter or not the other. Obviously now I know that you've had to had to wait for responses to texts and e-mails, that explains the slight delay and also partly explains the difference in approach. I may not agree entirely but I suppose we are where we are.

Don't think I'm telling you how to do your job because, although it may come across that way in my posts, I'm not. I'm looking for answers as much as the next fan but it is a frustration when a group such as yourselves have an opportunity and it appears that it is being ignored. I guess we'll have to see what happens particularly if the shy shareholders don't want to communicate with the fans but that's the wrong aproach because there'll come a time when the fans just won't accept it.

Thanks for taking the time to respond though, much appreciated.

Obviously due to were i live don't see them often, although was over to see them against crusaders at the start of the season..got beat!😱

Watched them whip saints on the telly last week though! and they had a good win against catalain yesterday.

With a new ground on the way things look on the up,just hope Widnes get a franchise joe next time round.🙂

I think his time has come to step down regardless of yesterday , if you listen to his Q&A there's not a single positive from him , were 26m in debt the TAX people are on our backs and the season ticket fiasco is beyond belief , he spends too much time trying to convince us how lucky we are instead of leading by example with positive PR .

All these years we seemed to have shown a lack in ambition, to keep the club afloat and avoid financial problems... to end up in financial problems!

THIS DIVISON IS A FINANCIAL MINEFIELD!

You have to be ambitious or you end up nowhere, e.g you end up like Preston North End.

HE HAS TO GO
