Matchday Thread Millwall v PNE - 27/01/24 - KO:3pm - Championship

Ye I’m the oddball when you just follow me around making sarcastic shitty posts at me instead of talking football.

Someone else apart from me stalking you now Ron? You do seem to be feeling persecuted .... especially when you post bollocks.Maybe there's a connection. 😀

Missed everything today as I was at Leeds Arena watching the Roses play New Zealand (don't judge me, my wife's a quality netball player so it was a Christmas present). To be honest, sounds like I made the right choice as it was a great game. From what I'm told we just toiled away to a point against a very average Millwall. Another season where we are happy to limp to 55 points and then put the sombreros on.

Yep... Pretty much. 🙁

Bloody insulting is that. He will come good
I sincerely hope so . Because his initial promise seems to have faded quite significantly .. he will struggle to get a start if he doesn’t improve by a lot. He has had chances but is just snatching at the shots . Meanwhile Riss’s hold up play has improved and he looks stronger and bigger and will be chosen over Majic on current form unless of course Lowe sees ‘something in training’ from Magic that gets him a game ..’ training well’ and ‘champing at the bit’ apparently the main reason you’ll get a game now.

How dare the opposition be competitive against us and try to stop us winning and try and win the game themselves.

The damn cheek of it.

Glaringly obvious that a number of folk have made their mind up about our current manager and even if we miraculously put some wins together and make the playoffs, they will still want the manager out of the club.

How small minded.
Yes. RL just doesn’t seem to be the right “fit”

Never known so much divisiveness.

We were awful until we scored, then the game completely flipped and we were on top until half time.

Second half we predictably sat back and somehow lucky Lowe got away with it, largely due to Millwall’s terrible finishing.

We had a couple of breakaways towards the end, but overall it was two poor teams slogging out a grim affair.

Mads was head and shoulders above everyone on the park and Flemming did nothing for them other than get his customary goal against us.

We could/should be doing much better with the squad we have but Lowe is a millstone around our neck.

His shameful comments about Alan Browne sum him up.

It’s a sad indictment of the state/direction of the club that he’s still here; an absolute horror show of a manager. 😤

we thought the same with Whiteman but there wasnt....

Jacko will have told RL how much AB could be expected to get through......scientifically.....and then its a choice to start and withdraw or hold back in case needed.
Lowe said nothing about an injury last night, his implication (probably more than that) was it was purely a selection issue.

I don’t know what the science was saying about taking Millar off but it certainly cheered the Millwall commentators up.

One thing for certain his inability to pick Mads for vast portions of this season was a huge error by Mr Fantastic proved it yesterday the guy has the ability to pick out a pass bring team mates into yhe game, links well with Millar. The much lampooned Ledson had a decent game yesterday(I know and no beer was taken to write that staement.
Two points dropped due to the negativity of the Fantastic one

Lacklustre atmosphere and lacklustre performance from two average teams battling it out for a mid table finish. Can’t remember the last time we took so few to Millwall for a Saturday game. First time I’ve been that they’ve put us in the lower tier. I was sat two rows from the touchline and couldn’t see fuck all. Probably a good thing.

Lots of frustrations - defenders switching off, Woodman’s time wasting, osmajic’s first touch, whiteman’s shit corners - another 4.5 years of sideways and backwards passing. Mads had some nice touches but apart from Millar not sure the other players are on his wavelength. Potts had a good game but how much better would we have been with Norton cuffey on the right.

Thought the game ebbed and flowed and a draw was probably the right result. Potts was my MoM, Lindsay was solid and Mads looked classy. RL likes to play with 2 ‘no 6’s’ I understand (he thinks Browne wanders too much probably not keeping within those training ground lines !) and that then effectively means a 5-3-2 with the wing backs providing more of the creativity. Ledson put a decent shift in and you can see why the manager warms to him in terms of the effort and protection…but he hasn’t really progressed in terms of quality on the ball as we all hoped he would Frustration to me is that as RL said Millar gets knackered with the amount of defending he has to do when really he should be concentrating his efforts higher up the pitch. His body language wasn’t great when he was taken off and thinking this route to me as neither Osmajic nor Riis ( his back to goal work work has improved though) were that effective I’d like to see Millar more advanced. How about a 4-3-3 type line up with Potts and Millar the wide attackers and Keane as a ‘false 9’ ? 3 from Mads, Browne Whiteman and McCann in midfield. Hughes goes left back and we’d need a right back. Finally Brady looked ok when he came on but still not really sure what his best position is.

Also just to add thought when Browne came in replacing Ledson we did seem to gain some ascendency and he took us up the pitch

I would like to see Millar more advanced a well but alongside Riis and either Osmajic or Keane. Potts lacks the invention to be played right upfront. Re Osmajic - yes he was poor yesterday but he has shown some class previously and he will have much better days.

!!."When? 😉
I
There are certainly things to work on with him but in truth the service he gets is appalling and we don’t ever play an early cross into the box for a striker to get on the end of. How many times do we get to the final third and pass back to Storey or Lindsay within seconds!

The system and tactics stifle our strikers by in large.
Yes, the pass back to Storey is his ( you know whose) favourite move !

Whenever we play with 3 centre halves Ledson and Whiteman should never start in front of them.
Ledson should never finish never mind start.
Keep him well away from any Penalty Areas if we are forced to bring him on.
