Summer 2026 - Transfer Rumours and Discussions.

Looks like McConnell was all ready to go and just the paperwork to complete and then the rig was pulled from under us, after months of hard work getting him to come here. Just hope we had a decent second choice lined up. Would hate to think all our eggs were in one basket. Richard Hughes holds key meeting as Liverpool youngster handed sudden first-team lifeline
Silly that, not in his best interests at all.
Potentially a relief though as promising minutes is always a worry. What if he isn't at the level straight away.
And who is he displacing out of McCann, cpt, Devine or Leroy.
We need cover while Moran developing a d JT is limited but I wouldn't want to guarantee mins either...unless it was HA of course.

Pretty shit that one. Clearly well thought of at Liverpool and the article states Swansea were interested. What a shame. Shows how difficult transfers can be. You have an agreement put in months of work and the club just pulls the plug last minute. Hopefully they get another midfielder over the line and he comes here.

Lets hope today will be a good day

I certainly have absolutely no idea what may or may not be happening on the transfer front. Normally I don't like commenting on speculation but if things are still at an impasse in Oxford then I just don't see that it benefits anybody to let them drag on and if - and it is a big if - there was any truth in the suggestion that we were talking to Alan Browne then I can't see that that is a situation that would not resolve itself one way or the other very quickly.

The only thing of which I am certain is that right now getting some more quality-in-depth into that deep midfield area where at the moment we only really have McCann and Leroy is our most urgent requirement. That is because every other possible resource we have for that part of team is either just not of sufficient quality i.e. Thompson though I daresay he tries his best or be a compromise that would involve using players out-of-position e.g. Devine, Moran.

I agree with you on the Mills point…even if he is back in training you can never turn the clock back on events and it would probably suit everyone if he came to us in this window.

If Browne was to come back I hope it would be a loan and that Sunderland would be paying a significant contribution to his wages.

No generous three year contracts please.

I’m sure we can expect the pre-match day leaks tomorrow/Friday to get everyone feeling positive.

The ‘lots happening’ at the end of last week hasn’t really translated to this week. Obviously McConnell situation won’t have helped.

Even if you don’t know what’s happening, it’s the sort of post we like to read.😉

Mind you, I’ve been pushing hard this morning, but that’s a different business!😉
I mean it’s blatantly obvious what we need and working on anyway. All 3 of the names Ando mentioned are ones we are working on.

I have already mentioned a LB being looked at, and it wouldn’t surprise me if it was someone who’s fairly comfortable LB and CB.

There’s the Milly situation, if he goes then we need another ST on top of the one we already want.

PS. Don’t put your back out. 😉
