4 at the back.......!!

4 at the back.......!!

Unbelievable. Robinson played a pivitol role in both goals and we scored twice from open play. With Davies we have no movement up front. I bet if you asked the Scunthorpe backline if Robinson was braindead they would have a difference of opinion thats for sure. Considering it was first full game in three months I thought he did very well - but his shooting was diabolical.

+1 from me. Robsinson cause them all kinds of problems every time he got on the ball. Yes, he made a couple of bad decisions, but overall he was very good. Still Gally for MoM though! And he was in the right place on the goal line to both stop one, and score one!

Offside about 10 times too, braindead. One or two bright sparks but give me Davies doing the simple things every time.

Can't believe that viewpoint! We wouldn't have scored those 2 goals if Davies had been on the pitch instead of Robinson.
He offers us far more mobility and speed and he gets decent crosses in. The exact opposite of Davies who encourages us to play hoofball.

I think we were gash the first half because Scunthorpe stifled us and that unsettled us. Someone behind me said they didn't think we would score today, I thought we would.

Once we got the first I said to the grandson that it would probably open the game up, as they would have to attack. It got better after the goal. Personally , even though we were poor first half, I thought Scunthorpe were crap, turning dirty when they went behind.

We're perfectly capable of playing along the floor with Davies in the side, not his fault others decide to lump it when he's up there. First goal was from a brilliant run by Gallagher giving him the simple job of rolling it to Johnson, second he played a good ball through, but I thought he was poor for most of the game, spent too much time out wide, poor decision making and his shooting was atrocious. I just don't get all the fuss about him, if he went back to Villa I wouldn't be arsed.

You're on yer own with this view pal!

Again we start with 3 centre halves and wing backs and it was shite and stale.....

Many fans were happy to keep this as it worked at Bramhall Lane and against Man Utd.....!! This is a formation that is not needed at home in games where the opposition should worry about us...!!

Again SG has to change the tactics at half time to go to a back 4..... that's twice in only a few home games, against teams below us, that he has done this.... when will he learn to start with a back 4??

Second half was far better as Humphrey and Johnson were allowed more freedom to get forward....

Robinson was the best player on the pitch by a mile and we looked more of an attacking threat in the final 3rd with him up top and Gally in the mix.... Those front 3 are as good as any in the league....

The league table is starting to look great and id only expect to see the wing backs in possibly 2-3 of the remaining games...

We can win this league as champions with the right tactics from the off.....!!

We didn't play with 3 centre halves at Sheffield though!

Wiseman, Clarke and Huntington played as a centre 3

Went on but reet confused as to whether I was on the same game .....

Three at the back against a better team than Scunthorpe we could well have been getting beat at half time , we looked all over the place and they had far to much space. It also stops our midfield supporting the fowards. We looked far better when we went 4-4-2 we created far more and looked less vulnerable in defence, Johnson played higher up the pitch and looked a far better player. Robinson out wide gave them far more to worry about and the whole team looked far more balanced and comfortable. At least Grayson changed things when it was obvious it wasn't working, just hope he doesn't revert back to it ant time soon.

I'm surprised that nobody has noticed this after 2 years of Grayson but......

His tactic is to play for a 0-0 at half time at home and knock any excitement out of the away team. He changes it at half time and more often than not we go on to win. We tried it against Utd but it didn't quite come off.

Thought Snodin's interview was poor. He seemed to express surprise that we sat back and invited pressure for first 20 minutes. What a load of balls, that is a clear instruction as it happens in 100% of home games.

Anyway, it doesn't really matter, we are in that phase of the season now where a win is all that matters and I thought we played well second half. Johnson is an excellent addition.

Well that's fucking awful tactics then. It was our home form that cocked it up for us last season and the other week we had to make a half time sub to go to 442...... Why not kill the game off by half time rather than worry about the away team...

I did mate - noticed it a while back to be honest.

A game lasts 90min mate the aim being to win 3pts ... something that the manager seems to do 50% of the time he sets a team up.
For info ... no points awarded for winning at half time .....
