I have spoken to Derek recently and given him my views and suggestions just as he has given me his side of the story - what was said was between the two of us but I have not changed my views/attitude toward the man and the situation following this discussion

Why isn't he spending his time actually running the club rather than wasting his time on the phone moaning to Herronchops? 😕

How can they say on one hand that the club has no money to advertise and market the product yet give the players etc 1st class travel, accommodation and a training trip to Spain? If the club is to keep pleading poverty then it's time to start cutting the cloth to suit the means.
this is my only issue with the whole thing.

Are Accy Stanley going on a trip somewhere (even relative to the division they are in)? I bet they arent because they are in deep deep shit.

I understand how and why it might be better and beneficial to take the players away from preston for a few days, to get them away from everything to refresh them, mentally as much as anything, and i realise that taking the squad to spain probably costs fuck all in the grand scheme of things in terms of running a football club, but needs must, and with the picture our illustrious leader has painted to the fans as justification of selling our best players and not adequately replacing the or solving issues that have plagued us for seasons, it sounds like very penny should be counted.

You cant have it both ways FFS 😡

In reality, I would say a lot of places in the Lake District are a lot more expensive than in Spain.
There are military training camps that can be hired - Isn't there one in East Lancashire where they filmed the assault section for a certain tv quiz show? The cost of travel, food and accommodation booked at the last minute for Spain would have been far greater than going to one of the military camps. Look after the pennies and the pounds will take care of themselves.

Don't talk wet, no air fares for starters. There's not much completely over the top up here.
But you reside in a cheaper part of the Lake District given that you live near Barrow!😀 Furthermore, flights cant be that expensive given how much Yoga gets about.😛

Thats a fair point Brian but it's not the Lake District. It's not even in Cumbria.😉

None of us know whether Everton or PNE are paying the most as we don't know the details. Furthermore, I understand it wasn't a last minute arrangement.

did they not know we were skint when they booked the jolly ?
did they know they were going to get st ledger money when they booked it too ?

Soemthing tells me they wont be flying easy jet and staying in budget hotels barely better then prisons.

Its not a lads holiday FFS.

I stated some seasons ago - when the little jock was touting himself around various clubs under the guise of it would be rude not to🙄 - that the reason IMO as to why he clearly did not get on with DS was because the latter was clearly a 'small club Chairman' who had little desire or wherewithal to promote the club either financially or in a marketing sense. My views on this have not changed. In the 3-4 seasons since Davis departed the club has not progressed - ok, we have had one or two dalliances with the play-offs but when we had the chance as we did two years ago to push the boat out and bring in those one or two players of class needed to take us that extra mile what happened - nowt! No wonder the dwarf upped and off'd. He realised that neither his aspirations nor that of the fans would ever be satisfied whilst DS was at the helm.

Yes, I know that he is prudent, does not want to see the club in financial hock and, undoubtedly, has been the driver behind the completion of Deepdale into a fine stadium but other than that what is there to show? We now even have the spectre of the orange 😛 scum over on the west coast potentially finishing off better than us and, heaven forbid, taking that last great leap ahead of us.

I am not a financial or marketing wizard but I am sure that the Board at North End must have access to bigger and better assets than the ones currently at their disposal i.e. people of the drive and determination to want to make this club bigger and better and get the bums on seats that we all yearn for if we are not to be left behind as the last bastion of non-Premiership football in Lancashire - even Accy Stanley have found a 'saviour' to take them forward. Maybe the board need to go away for a spot of team bonding and come back with a transparent plan of action as to how the club is going to go forward rather than the opaque and rather obtuse responses we only ever seem to get - small club, small club, small club. If they say it enough then we all start to believe it and nothing will ever improve 😡
