Matchday Thread Bolton Wanderers v PNE | 15.08.26 | KO:12:30pm | Championship

As shite as that was I’m confident it will be the worst 11 we put out this season, so things should only improve.

Iversen was uncharacteristically poor, Pol will hopefully never start again and Osmajic will be benched soon. As bad as the three of Storey, Lindsay and Hughes are I don’t think they were to blame today and in any event Lindsay will be back on the bench soon.

We will look a million miles better with McConell and Leroy in midfield. I’ve never seen a midfield so out of depth as that first half.

Manager completely cost us that, Leroy and Erabi came on and suddenly we looked dangerous, no panic stations yet but the manager is certainly on thin ice.

I can't see Burgzorg starting too many games when we get everyone in.
I think he will be more of an impact sub, reminds me of Paddy Agyemang, but not as good.

Massive humbling that. A better team would have put four or five past us. I genuinely can’t see what we were trying to do for 80 minutes of that game.

Pol should have been hooked at halftime, got ruined by Gale time and time again. Leroy twice the player Thompson will ever be and Erabi goes straight in moving forward.

Mad to think we had the opportunity to equalise, we did absolutely nothing for lathe portions of that match and it should be an eye opener that certain positions still need serious work.

That result is on the manager. Formation wrong.

Team selection wrong.Subsitutions wrong.

Game plan (no idea).

There are certain players I don't want to see in a PNE shirt again.

Thankfully change is coming.

Yeah, and if that's his role, that's fine. Didn't really offer anything today. If we have 4 wide players able to rotate based on skills and form, that will do for me.

What is he?
Fair point! I’m not excusing him for missing that chance, although we should not have been in a position where we are relying on a centre back to rescue the game for us. The big chance to claw something from that 65 minute shit-show was the Osmajic chance, when he showed the touch of a bloody rhinoceros. God only knows what some fans see in him!!

Hughes as a LB is not even worth thinking about.
The other 2 seemed to get done in the air alot today, losing out on first contacts, particularly in the first half.
An as for the miss at the end by Lindsay!

Shocking performance, disgusting until the subs came on.
All these players mentioned (who I agree were shite) are we forgetting about Lang, woeful performance, Burgzorg is a Jebbison re-gen (and not in a good sense). God I hope we don’t see Lindsay & Pol in this team again…

Obviously, the reaction to LL putting the last gasp chance over the bar was emotional.
But I would say that if that same chance fell to a thousand different Championship players, it would get scored no more than 1 in 3 times. (maybe 1 in 4 or even 1 in 5). Two touches in front of him, the second loopily taking the pace off the ball - left him needing to generate power and direction to get it past the big keeper in front of him.
Looks easy - but that definitely gets missed more often than not.

More like Jason Harris.

Agyemang was decent, and scored one of the best goals ever seen at Deepdale.
Now there's a player I had forgotten totally, good shout that.

I loved Paddy, one for that goal and two for being totally unpredictable.
I knew someone who coached him at Wimbledon, who said that Paddy needed a parrot on his shoulder to tell him what to do.

He also had the biggest feet ever.

They were like canoes.

Always tried to be positive and look for positives but today’s performance worried me. The first half was one of the worst I can remember.
Also I’ve always tried to defend hecky, but today I can’t, just can’t. To leave Offiah on bench and play pol, to leave vuvkevic on bench and play Hughes, to play Thompson and not Moran, I just don’t understand. Erabi should at good is the should be starting, he head and shoulders better than Osmajic. Our defence? We’ll need I really say anything?
JK mentioned in post #906 ‘change is coming’ well on today’s showing it needs to, & quickly.
Try to enjoy the rest of the weekend all.

It was a great header if it had been in our box and he was trying to clear the ball but that was an easy chance and he didn't need to generate great power just direct it under the bar.

No need for panic yet, but the new owners won't stand for performances like that for long. The buck stops with Hecky and he needs to step up or will be gone..
Hopefully have McConnell in for next week.
Must be wholesale changes with today’s subs starting.
Could even have got an undeserved point today with better composure from Osmajic and Lindsay.
Manager in last chance saloon as he has now been backed.
