Club Takeover/Investment

Club Takeover/Investment

, Peter remains in charge of the day to day running, as he has done for many a year.

so if he’s still in charge of communication of day to day activities he is in a position to put out a statement explaining his strategy during the last window that left the first team with some gaping holes. I’m sure people would like to hear a bit about how it all panned out

He could, and a great point, it would be a good read and there’s a first time for everything.
It could be (back to the thread topic) a good opportunity for Ian to offer a further takeover summary also

Ok so if I take the spin that Penrose is chairman in a non exec capacity primarily charged with selling the club then that’s not going too well is it. He should be making sure the club is a saleable proposition which it now clearly isn’t, watch this space, club now not an attractive proposition.
And after 8 months the purchase has not been completed.
I would think it highly likely the sale will not be going through.

And you believe that Ridsdale is operating normally as a CEO independently without any interference which would make the problems in our recruitment down to him. Should owner and chairman not be monitoring him to make sure the club is being run correctly?
He has been strangely silent….not something we are used to with PR.

It still adds up to the same result , between them and the owner there has been a huge failure in planning and communication leaving us with a playing squad which is not suitable for purpose.

Good.post. . How was it allowed to happen that we ended up with a disjointed squad with obvious gaps , More evidence of how lacking the iom ownership is.

One Example of ridsdales incompetence was the loan signing of the kid from abroad in jan .obviously not heckys choice as only played him first half v pompey never saw the lad again .my post earlier was asking who he is answering to ...Penrose or hemmings ...didn't uncle Trevor bring him in and out him on his payroll and not the club as Advisor ...

I think we have to accept that, as fans, we are in no way involved in the takeover process, we can throw tantrums to our hearts content, makes no difference.

I'm guessing here, but any statement released would have to be agreed by both parties, vetted and signed off by both legal teams and possibly the EFL/IFR. That would probably take time and distract from ongoing takeover activities.

I think we'll hear nothing at the moment with our league position.

It'd be interesting to see what happens should Zedan & co still want to buy the club if we do get relegated in terms of the IFR. Obviously the price will change & the business plan would have to change also in a different league.

I just feel like because we are SO shit on the pitch right now, that will ultimately lead to them walking away and the whole process of finding new owners starts again.....in league one.

A massively depressing situation.

What ongoing activities are these?

Think it's time for another update from the club

Just so we know what the current situation is and where wr are at regards to the sale of the club.
For what reason? It’s clearly not collapsed because that would’ve been announced or leaked, and it’s clearly not with the Regulator because every other club going through takeovers seem to have announced that it’s going through the Regulator. So it’ll be identical to the last statement

I'm basing the "ongoing activities" on the silence of both parties involved. If the deal had collapsed our non executive Chairman would need to move on to other "interested parties" and that would be public knowledge. Also, our current league position at this point in the season, whilst terrible, is not indicative of where we'll be in May.

I sort of agree but think league one gives better opportunity to rebuild. Lower level, actual chance to win games again regularly and get momentum and can also sign players to develop with less competitors than at championship level.

He'll certainly be holding off currently otherwise you'd have seen Sheff Weds taken over early last season but there was no point as everyone knew they were going down so much better to complete the takeover when they were in league one and now there is much more of a positive atmosphere around Hillsborough.

Nothing happens though and in 12 month's time this club could easily be in Leicester or Wigan's position. Every time I see a Leicester game at King Power stadium their fans are booing straight after conceding a goal so it's a very toxic atmosphere there. Same could easily happen at Deepdale if nothing changes in next six months.

Ah good to hear “ rebuild” making an appearance once again but at North End the works are never completed !!!!!

Have you seen what league 1 is doing/done for the likes of Reading, Leicester, Huddersfield, Wigan and Blackpool all of which have reached the Premiership. Who on earth from within the management of our club is capable of launching a surge from league 1.

Only opportunity for our “well run club” leaving league 1, would be a further relegation to league 2, relegation this season would be a disaster !

Well once the sport and competition is missing, particularly at the top end, there isn’t really much point in competing if all you will ever achieve is an also ran. I’ve been saying that all along. A super league would eventually go the same way, the sport is lost when clubs like City think it’s ok to buy your way to the top that’s corruption not sport. Sadly football has lost its way because greed was allowed to take it over.
Sky Ruined football.

The big clubs continue to get bigger; the rest of the pyramid in England & beyond just suffer the consequences of the owners, players & their agents greed.
Bosman and freedom of player movement; the vast sums that Sky etc are prepared to pay along with us the fans continuing to pay the exorbitant monthly subscriptions don’t help either. The IFR is not going to do anything to change the way money trickles down the leagues…..
I won’t have sky in the house.
