@Thracia Step it up boy. He’s showing you upI am more than willing to apologise to AshleighC for any offence and they do deserve to crow if what they've been saying is correct.
But you can appreciate the skepticism, partly for the reasons outlined above but also due to the somewhat left field nature of this and just the stuff mentioned over the summer that appears to be wide of the mark, including:
- Attempting to buy Kesler-Hayden. Although this was later backtracked.
- Wrexham wanting Andy Carroll. North End wanting Andy Carroll. He is now in the National League South.
- Mads Frøkjær leaving
- Kuryu Matsuki signing
- Adedire Mebude and his brother
There's also the ambiguity over who is actually bidding on the club.
Football Regulator vows to 'shut out rogue owners' - Independent Football Regulator: Proposals in place to 'shut out rogue owners'
PR may be removed from his position by the new regulators.
They could try, but he is NOT the owner and is Hired by the Owner. That means they couldn't remove him and it be an employment issue not an ownership. They could only stop him buying the club or being part of a consortium. I doubt Peter has the money to buy the Club.

In its first major policy announcement, the IFR said it plans to establish a new owners, directors and senior executives test that will "give powers to take action when owners or directors fail to meet new requirements".
The IFR's proposals will be able to review not just new prospective owners of a club, but those already in position.

I once saw Donny Belles when in their prime play Scotland and easily won 6 or 7 nilSpot on LiS...
When my daughter played in the top flight of women's football , Donny Belles were top dogs along with Arsenal and Everton.
Then as you say, it all became about franchising and who had the most money to throw at the women’s game.
Everybody raves about Man Utd and Man City women's teams but 20 years ago they were playing in the 7th and 8th tier.....

I would say that the expectations of those fans are wildly different. You can’t tell me you wouldn’t want someone Levy’s experience at the club. He’s built one of the best stadiums in the world. Ours can’t fix a leaking fucking roof.
Levy might have been removed as Executive Chairman but he stills owns 30% of Spurs.
As for the Football Regulator don’t make me laugh, yet another money gobbling waste of time government quango with a £10m budget. That would soon be gone when the big clubs take a decision to court. I’m sure the Premier League already have a plan to sidestep them and rightly so. One of the biggest most successful industries in the UK and the government thinks they know better.

In May PR said something along the lines of " the price won't be a problem, if it's the right kind of new owners", So how does that work in practice. Surely one of the very 1st questions is, how much do you want for the club? The reply " don't know, depends on what kind of person you are" hardly encourages further discussion.
You don't know how the discussions are going and what is said , sure they know how to negotiate properly. We make very little money from the Spudbros sponsorship, its all about the bigger picture. In May PR said something along the lines of " the price won't be a problem, if it's the right kind of new owners", So how does that work in practice. . We make very little money from the Spudbros sponsorship,
Not true, it is actually a very competitive deal for all involved.
Agreed, but it's unusual to offer something for sale without stating the asking price. Alternatively, they could give a price ( bearing in mind they bought the club for around £150k), then add they will sell to the bidder with the best 3 year investment plan? Though I'm not sure how they can ensure such a plan is delivered? It does seem to be more complicated than it needs to be, though of course we don't know if there's any restrictions or stipulations in the Trust Conditions.⁸You don't know how the discussions are going and what is said , sure they know how to negotiate properly. If we take Ridsdale at his word on that, I imagine what he means is the price changes dependent on the new owners plans etc.
If you want to build an academy you'd expect the price to be lowered because the infrastructure just doesn't exist. If you wanted to finish The Invincibles, replace the pitch etc you would too.
Sort of like a house really, you have your initial asking price but it changes according to how much work needs doing etc. The initial asking price is just a means of deterring time wasters with no money.
At a guess the biggest thing The Hemmings want is someone they can guarantee has money and not just have a Kirchner situation.
That being said it is Ridsdale and he does like putting clauses into what he says. "We didn't sell because they just weren't the right type of owners" etc

Call me a cynic , don't believe this about new owners how I wish it was true though. Just yet again another deflection so the fans are not talking about the lack of money being spent on players especially a striker we and they know should have at least got one in.
Just the same BS year after year with these owners .

I think the "right people" is also linked more prosaically to their basic identity. TH didn't like "great British assets ending up in overseas hands", for example, and may have made some stipulations in that direction - although Americans are clearly in the "right people" camp, since they already went so far down the road with Kirchner, without apparently being too forensic up front about his future business plan and source of funding. If we take Ridsdale at his word on that, I imagine what he means is the price changes dependent on the new owners plans etc.

I also don't see the Isle of Man offering a price cut if the new owners simply promise to build an academy - as we know, they're wise to how that scam works - I think it's more they might cut the price if the new owners agree to leave some of the club's saleable land assets and various training grounds with the Isle of Man.
Ultimately, the Isle of Man can't control what a new owner does after they take control - "not because anybody lied, circumstances may simply change and an opportunity arises"...
So requiring a new owner to show them business plans is surely not to ensure the future success of PNE, but to ensure the future success of the sale going through - by ensuring the new owners don't hit a snag with the EFL Owners & Directors Test that might scupper the deal, because the EFL test requires them to show identity of the principals, sufficiency of funding for 2 years, source of funding, etc., all the things Peter says they want to see up front.

This all over for me. His comments, in truth, amounted to fuck all more than filler, so the only reason to make them was to deflect.
I was going to write a very similar thing. I want it to be true, but I'll only believe it when I see something substantial in print from the club. Heard too much of PRs BS to trust anything the man says.Call me a cynic , don't believe this about new owners how I wish it was true though. All good points
I admittedly didn't think through the example of the academy. I suppose all I was trying to say when Ridsdale says the price isn't an issue, is that he means the price is negotiable.
You might recall better than I do, but wasn't the asking price dropped when negotiating with Kirchner successfully once? It's when he asked for it to be dropped again (and much lower) the deal was called off?

Yeah, that's the rumour - needs to be remembered, they went a long, long way down the road with Kirchner without apparently asking for any credible source of funding for the next 2 years, etc., so I take their new-found concern in this regard "for the good of the club" with a pinch of salt. All good points

I think they simply don't want to go to all the trouble and expense and frankly the impertinence again of a sales pursuit including full due diligence, poking around in the Isle of Man's affairs, without it actually leading to a sale - so they want to hold the prospective buyer's hand and make sure they get them through the EFL ODT.
