Absolutely. I think it probably should have been a foul but that’s all - the result was just exceptionally unfortunate.

Yeah, point is that all teams do it. Football fans will generally blame their own team, whether they win or lose, because that's who they're watching most.

Regarding Hughes/Sakamoto. Looks like an unfortunate accident in a contact sport to me. Hughes blocks him and he lands badly, nothing malicious.

Exactly, it’s a split second decision, how can you have an on the spot planned strategy? It’s totally stupid to even consider intent.

To be where we are after the middle of the season we had is nothing short of miraculous. The team, Ryan and his coaching team deserve all the plaudits at the minute. Ryan could even be in line for manager of the month. With his 4 wins and a draw.

I think it’s written into the EFL contract that they have to give it to Leeds, Leicester or Soton every month 😁😁
 
Coventry fans on BBC saying Hughes would be sent off in a rugby match for that “challenge”! From the side view, Hughes looks like he backs into the Coventry lad but from the other angles he just reads the flight, marks his spot and lets the ball go over him. There is no rule that you have to jump. Sakamoto makes no meaningful contact, if any, with the ball despite his leap. Hughes read it correctly.

He would have got a yellow in rugby as the player landed on his side and not his head or neck.

Well it's not rugby, would be my response.
 
Out of interest, I’ve just checked on a few crowds from teams near us, and was astonished at the Oldham gate.

There were 12,956 at the Blackburn v Norwich game and
There were 11,881 at the Oldham v Kidderminster game. What a fantastic effort.

I believe the Oldham owner has just returned from completing a charity fundraiser for Alzheimer's and they made this game a £1 a ticket to celebrate his efforts with all money going to the same charity. Think the owner raised £300,000 which is a fantastic effort.
