They started Alex Robertson and David Turnbull in midfield. Colwill and Willock came on at half time.

Not saying that's how it'll go in the Championship, but that's an example as to how the way they play can go when they play stronger opposition. They've got a bit of strengthening to do if they want to make it work better in this league.

I've said before, I think we'd have gone down with BBM with the team we had. But he was my first choice, and I'd have been ok with that as I would've taken a rebuild under him in L1. But not sure a lot of other fans would've given that same patience.
 
Though I am totally ambivalent towards the current manager, I couldn’t give a shit about pre season games. For good or bad.

I’ll judge him after 10 league games.

For me a manager like BBM at PNE would be reminiscent of a Russell Martin tea in the premier league. Players trying to play a certain way that aren’t good enough and just getting overrun and conceding for fun.
Would need a complete overhaul for it to work which we can’t afford to do currently. We hear it every new manager coming in they want to play this way, in this formation then revert to standard PNE defensive first, keep it 0-0 and hope for a breakaway goal and win 1-0

A complete overhaul is the only way we get out of this dross.

Be that with a manager given free rein or an owner who can buy quality.
 
2 seasons of PH's only formation leaving 3 mid/forward players should ring alarm bells higher up, this turgid twat has nearly relegated us, always has his charges on the beach before Easter and WILL be sacked (as he has been everywhere he has been bar once) together with the lowest win ration is decades, just what does anybody see in the gormless twat????

PH NEVER takes any responsibility for results, his changes are as bad a Tuchel's against Argentina, he cannot develop players, he cannot make the most of our youth and is just ambling along blameless till he is sacked, HE IS the real problem.

Very hard to argue with this. My hope was that he knew a takeover was coming and he'd have 3 months to improve or get sacked. At the moment it's comfy slippers 7 at the back and aim to finish 19th whilst getting paid a very handsome salary.

We have started pre season how we ended last season,with the same formation and turgid and boring defensive football.
He is already giving the same post match interview, not clinical enough upfront,too many errors, costly mistakes leading to us conceding goals.
" In the first half we looked good between boxes,we looked slick at times.
"Second half we were nowhere near ruthless enough ,slick enough,we gave away too many loose chances which is not us."
He must not have been facing the pitch then for the whole second half of last season.
Performance wise nothing has improved or changed and is simply not good enough,the same for the management side.🥴🙁
 
I said at the end of last season that he'll be gone (Takeover Confirmed) by the Sept - Oct 3 week break if he gets off to a bad start.

Since then, the fixtures have arrived with August and September rather kind to us.

Twice as much pressure on him now imo.

A lame start and he won't be around to oversee a 4th slump of epic proportions.

In mitigation the club seems to be in limbo and whilst Ridsdale, Penrose and Hemmings hide behind a NDA, Heckingbottom is thrown under the bus.

I would like to see a lot better on the pitch but to date we have not replaced Jebbison, Brady, Dobbin, Lewis and Lukovic from the squad that ended the season. Plus Armstrong whom helped us to 4th.

Are we not able to sign anyone to bolster the squad due to this period of limbo if there is indeed one?

If those in charge off the field have gone mute and the budget had been spent they aren't going to sack the manager as they are hiding behind him and throwing him to the wolves (quite literally in 3 weeks)

How do you know he will be gone?

Who will make that decision?
