forgot about himThe worrying thing for me about him is that he's making Will Keane seem like a good option.
We still need to give Smith some time, but it's not been a great start has it?!

I hope he does, but he's not really filling the role Ched did (i.e. hold-up, occasional goal) or working as a target man at the moment.Watch him score at Hull.
Understand why we went for him, but it's looking to be a bit of a head scratcher right now. Confidence perhaps?
If your a striker, surely you have to carry some kind of threat.
Looking at his record there, it seems like he's carried a next to zero threat throughout much of his career.
So if we've bought him because he offers something different to the rest of the strikers then fair enough but that "something different" needs to be visible.
I've not really seen it yet apart from a half decent showing at Loftus Rd.
If your gonna be a nuisance or a foil for Osmajic then at least try jumping off the ground properly for starters.
Really hope he comes good but I won't hold my breath
With the issues at Sheff Weds he was cheap as chips. Same as Keane coming from Wigan for hardly anything due to their financial woes during 2023.
That is why he is here, cheap depth. He was not signed as a regular starter. He wouldn't have been signed at all if Will Keane was still a decent mid table championship CF but he hasn't been that for 18 months.
Again the club need to rectify this in January as was a fudge not getting in another CF in the August window especially if Osmajic does get a ban in near future.
I still believe in his attributes as an option, I think we just need to get better at switching to a supporting style when he's leading the line. It reminds me a bit of Jayden Stockley. When we went all in long ball, picking up scraps (I'm thinking the Rovers game), he excelled. But it was infrequent because it wasn't our main style of play, so he didn't shine often. On that occasion the fact we were backs against the wall forced the style of play.
Different times, different players, different managers. But to draw on the Ched example, I think he was more of an adaptable "get shit done to help the team" kind of player with a variety of play styles, whereas Smith is a bit more of a classic target man which necessitates a certain type of delivery.
I'm not going to completely paper over the fact that Smith has looked pretty poor when he's played this season, but there are always contributing factors.

So we are expecting more from a 33 year old league one journeyman who cost peanuts, while a million plus 22 year old from the premier league (Offiah) should be given more time?

Yes, people expect a more immediate impact from an experienced player who knows the league than a young lad in his second year of senior football and his first at this level. How is that difficult to understand? So we are expecting more from a 33 year old league one journeyman who cost peanuts, while a million plus 22 year old from the premier league (Offiah) should be given more time?
How is he a scapegoat when he isn't being blamed for anything?

You have a brain disorder.... He's been iffy/very average so far but I've seen nothing whatsoever to suggest that he's being blamed for anything. Compared to last year we're doing quite well...At least we seem to be able to defend now.
I'm going to start a WUM of the year thread. You'll piss it.
😅Watch him score at Hull.
Lmao

Well he's notched tonight and pleased for him despite the stick I've given him.
Let's just hope he can chip in with a few more now

I prefer Jebbison as the physical option up to now, who offers rapid pace and lots of mobility. Won't win many headers but makes it difficult for the defender. His offside awareness needs serious work though.
I'd persevere with a front two of him and Dobbin while Osmajic is banned. Think they showed signs of good link up against Wrexham.
Smith as 4th choice, and coming on for the last 15/20 certainly isn't a bad option though.
