We need as a priority a Keft wing back...as we have for years
KKH well sll agree is excellent but we need him on the right do Potts can be dropped and a decent left wing back brought in. I'd hope bower (clearly over weight) is sent back. Okkels clearly not rated maybe sold...if there is actually any buyers. I'd ship whatmough back to league 1...if it'll have him and bring another big physical forward on seeing as hiw Heckingbottom is playing a lone forward
 
Serious amount of work needs to be done in January and Summer so hopefully the cheque book is open a bit more and PH is allowed to1 bring in reinforcements to make sure we don't get relegated and 2 that will improve us not just until the end of this season but going into the next.

Whiteman is a very difficult situation now, he needs dropping and Ledson given an extended run as I thought he did well coming on yesterday but if Whiteman continues not to be good enough how do you get out of that situation? The lad might just sit on his long contract now until it expires, I think he's too bulked up at the moment needs to lose some weight, watch him when he played for Donny against us in the cup that's the midfielder we need.

Woodman, Hughes, Whatmough, Cornell, Riis, Stewart, Bauer, Bowler all need to be cut loose and Lindsay and Storey only renewed if they perform to a high level for the rest of the season, been impressed with Storey under PH to be fair.

Thor, Mads, Best, Osmijic all need to be given a run and KKH played in his preferred position.

Thor is just as anonymous as Whiteman
 
Be silly not to take a talent like Kent, especially as a free agent.

But then priorities must be implemented for the defence and even a goalkeeper in January. Cannot be left as ‘it’ll do’ again.

Riis has looked to be trying over the last few matches - well at least before yesterday - and he is worth keeping. Otherwise your suggestions for players to be 'cut loose' are sound though I would add Holmes and frankly see no reason why we should not make a real effort to offload Whiteman. As for your suggested team for the next match well I might omit Hughes in order to add Greenwood but otherwise something like that is necessary.

Still the SPL. Tavernier scored a million goals up there from RB but he wasn't that amazing at Wigan was he? Todd Cantwell gone to plastics and not done much so far.

I'd be looking if there's anyone decent at Aberdeen in their early 20s to pick up for relatively low fees.
 
Do we not already have a right-footed left winger though?

Quite a pricey one IIRC?
 
Okkels still deserves the time of day, but bringing in someone alike Kent who can play both wings, especially when Bowler hasn’t lit the world alight would be a decent signing in my opinion.

Do we actually believe we’ll bring in defensive recruits this January window too or be fobbed off with ‘no funds left’?

We have to.

Yesterday shows we are only one injury away from Whatmough playing.

We also need to ensure that KKH plays on the right.

As well as Brady was playing, we simply can not depend on his fitness.

I would also be looking for a striker and a loan keeper.

In the past Trevor always found funds if we looked in trouble (albeit, the year we went down being the exception).

Don't expect us to get even 25% of them though and annonce new contracts instead.

So apart from the goalkeeper, defenders, strikers, wingbacks and midfielders is there anywhere we don't need to recruit?

(I find it hilariously tragic that it's not really possible to disagree)

Plenty came in the Jan 2011 window. They were just really low quality loans or freebies apart from Khumalo.

Any realistic chance of staying up that season was ended when Tonge and Pugh went back as results had started to pick up with them around.

There's a few parallels with that season
- Started with a young manager who was wedded to one style of play despite the squad
- A squad built on the cheap
- A Chairman/Director reluctant to push the boat out on key players
- Reliance on loanees to try and be the key to the team
- Regularly conceding 3 or more
- Ownership more bothered about recouping what they've spent rather than investing

It's hard to judge with players at old firm clubs.

I think Tavernier would be a top player at this level. Not sure what happened at Wigan but look at Szmodics when he went to Bristol City.

Cantwell is just a weird player, but you've also got the likes of Aribo, Edmundson & Bassey who have done well.

Joe Garner & Ben Davies also couldn't hack it at Rangers.

From what I've heard of Kent, he's a talent who would be quality at this level IF his heart is in it.
