Time for action - An open letter to Preston North End FC (Meeting & responses added).

Time for action - An open letter to Preston North End FC (Meeting & responses added).

It is so annoying …..

At the start of the window , the story was that we would bring in lots of frees to bolster the defence but that there was money for our attacking options… It now all appears to have been BS
It’s almost as if false positive news is leaked during peak season ticket sales time and a couple of early signings (eg Iversen and Small)to whet the appetite and then everything is scaled back.

A few on here did warn us. But a lot of us thought surely they wouldn’t would they. I’ll still give them till the end of the transfer window. Just call me a blind optimist.

What’s the plan then if the Hemmings family throw the towel in ?? Some very unrealistic, negative fans on here and I say that as a fan of over 60 years

Is it time for another letter?

The issue (IMO) has and always will be the owners. I thought things might change since Trevor has passed but they are gradually getting worse.

If we have ‘no money’ that is a complete and utter joke.

Yes in some aspects we could spend the money better (and ridsdale must take the blame with that) but overall I think we have done alright with the budget this pre season. But now the money has just disappeared. Complete and utter joke.
The last one did very little to change anything. They don’t give a toss

Wasting your time.

Nothing will change until you hit the club in the pocket and stop lapping up the ‘cheaper’ season tickets. A big drop in numbers in the summer and you can guarantee the club will then want to engage the fan’s.

But what will really happen is folk will moan on here that they’re done etc, then as the deadline approaches that softens to ‘I’m still undecided’, before going on to eventually renew with a ‘this is my club, they won’t drive me out’ summary.

Hit them in the pocket, and send a message far stronger then a letter which will most likely just be ignored anyway.
Shock horror.. how utterly predictable.

It simply can't be worse than we have now, a new owner comes in gives it a proper go to finally get into the prem. If we end up like Sheff Wed you know what I couldn't give a fuck at least we will have given it a proper go.

I just want one season in the prem before a I pop my clogs. And with the hemmings clan we have 0% chance with new a owner you just never know..

Yep.

Any such letters, or NDA-bound clandestine meetings with the top brass, are a total waste of time.
I have never signed an NDA.

It was the fact that we reported this meeting that led to our very public disagreement.

I do however agree with you having one to one meetings with Craig or Peter is a pointless exercise.

I have decided to reserve full judgement until the end of the window.

I am tired of fighting a losing battle.

We need at least another striker but realistically a couple more too, it's a long hard season.

The team and manager need our support as we need to get as many points as soon as we possibly can.

Any anger needs to be directed elsewhere.

I know it did very little but we need to do something.

This is why I said last season - relegation would have been a blessing in disguise. Relegation would mean fans putting pressure on the owner but what happened instead was we stayed up - fans had a party because we stayed up and we just carry on like nothing has happened.

The club doing the same thing year in, year out. I’ve given up expecting change without action.

The name Revitt needs to be added to that sign. Probably in place of Ridsdale’s.

I’d also remove the “invest in our squad or” part.

It’s never going to happen. Their time is up.

Firstly, with respect, I don't think it's fair to attribute 'negativity' to people justifiably criticising the Hemmings. It's because I can see the potential of this club that I expect more from them. To me, it's talking the club down if you don't expect anything more. It's not as if what I expect is unreasonable. Ultimately I just expect some sort of plan. If I had absolutely no hope in North End and only thought about them in a negative light, I wouldn't bother with the club at all.

But in terms of the plan if they throw in the towel. For the sake of this answer, I'm going to forgo any debate about if they're even doing their best (I'd be even more worried than I am now if they were) and work on the assumption they are and they just give up.

Presumably they lower their asking price and more people become interested in buying the club. I'm not even afraid of Administration anymore. There are a plethora of clubs out there who have had their issues, got new owners and then progress. Derby are one example, Birmingham are another, as are Ipswich and Coventry. If you don't think there's anyone out there who wants to buy us, this would run contrary to the negative narrative as I believe there is someone out there.

With the new football regulator, I have some hope we won't get a Morecambe style situation (and if the Hemmings were giving up they wouldn't hold onto the club anyway like Whittingham is). Ideally these new owners put some actual investment into the club and follow a plan to either grow the the club or make us more sustainable.

Perhaps I am naive, I haven't watched North End for as long as you have. I am a child of the Baxi era and seeing the success as that era is proof to me we can achieve more.

The question I have in return is what have we actually achieved since the Hemmings took over? We got relegated, promoted again and then returned to the level. We haven't been in the play offs since they took over, when we flirted with them a lot more when they weren't in charge. What am I, and others here missing that suggests that they're our only hope and they're the right people to take us forward?

Under the current ownership the club is being dragged into the gutter. They have absolutely no interest in it and no intention to see things improve. It’s time PNE fans stopped moaning about how bad things are and did something positive towards removing the owners from the club. Letters written to the owners have been tried, but have failed to turn the situation around. The owners do not care what the fans think or want to see happen. It’s time to start serious protest. Lots of banners in all the stands showing them and the wider audience what needs to happen and lots of loud voices expressing our anger towards them. There’s just one problem with that and that is the majority of fans I side Deepdale are gimps and turtles who prefer to sit on their hands than show any concern. Wake up Deepdale nothing will improve whilst we sit motionless.

Everyone agrees but until someone grabs the mantle and organises it won't happen.

I've sat on Lothorpe Rd in years gone by and id join a protest at any given time, but to organise it I couldn't be arsed and I'm guessing most feel the same way...as...... what's the point!!!

This is literally how it should be done every single window.

I’ll be annoyed if we don’t sign anyone between now and the end of the window. But I actually appreciate how many moving parts there are to a deal, and that it’s not like playing FIFA career mode.
