He has done a “ Mark Rankine “Simple facts are, Whiteman was dreadful last season but has been consistently very good this season.

He has already missed 10 games this season because of injury.McCann was kicked on the ancle twice in the game when he had to go off. If any of us were kicked (hard) on the ancle, we too would struggle to perform at this level. Wouldn't make us injury prone. If he hadn't been kicked he therefore wouldn't be injured.
He missed 17 last season.
He missed 15 the season before.
He missed 13 the season before.
His first season he only missed 3.
He picks up too many injuries for a limited midfielder.

The narrative 'hes been brilliant all season' brigade are amongst the heckingbottom deserves the sack gang.
EVen when whiteman has ran a show (?) he's been nowhere near derided midfielders such as Johnson, Pearson, browne, et al. He's fucking gash. And he's yet another who's accumulated a shit load of mediocre years. Some top posters on here praising him. Yeah, ex top posters.

Are we saying he has been a top signing for us. Absolutely not but he has been good this season. The only person comparing him to the midfielders you named is yourself.
You seem to be looking for an argument that isn’t there. As for Hecky - new owners will probably sack him anyway. Don’t blame them. Any owner with any ounce of ambition would have sacked him at the end of last season.

No idea.I don’t think any player in our squad is on £22K per week , are they ??
just something i remember at the time.
"that was reported"
even if he was on 10k a week would struggle to sell him this year.

The Whiteman debate is really strange. Guy is clearly a capable footballer yet gets pelters from a large and vocal minority.
I like him because he has a good first touch, reasonable football brain and usually keeps the ball when he receives it. That is a valuable trait in a CM. Not every pass has to split the defence open - if you can’t do that, just keep the ball moving. Whiteman is good at this.
The notion that he “never passes forwards” is a myth as well.
My frustrations with Ben is that his shooting is pretty crap. Has he ever put his laces through a ball from 18-25 yards? Could he not look to improve this in training?
He’s also clearly not very mobile or quick. And it’s probably this especially that dictates a) why the Championship is his glass ceiling and b) why he picks up so many yellow cards.
I also think there’s been a marked difference in his performances when partnered with another CM who can actually play football (Harrison Armstrong) to the time after he left, when he’s stuck playing with the usual cloggers who struggle to pass water.
Whiteman is a good football player. If the fanbase has to direct its venom at someone on the playing side, it certainly shouldn’t be him.

I'd say that McCann should receive more criticism than Whiteman, especially if we are talking about when he's on the ball, but I know that wont be a popular opinion amongst the fanbase.

But he still has had a good season? Not great but good.I don't blame him for being a bag of shite ribs, which he is.
Last season - he was shite
This season - he has been good.
I also think there is a huge difference in performances when he is partnered with a Moran or Devine or Armstrong rather than a mccan or Thompson.
We will have to agree to disagree. No point belittling people for having a different opinion to yourself.
