Hecky will walk!

Hecky will walk!

Im not going to judge the manager on the squad hes found himself with, now.

I fear a struggle unless the ownership problem is resolved. If thats not done before deadline day were going to be in serious trouble.

I understand folks problem with our defenders but theyre all weve got, right now, so offloading any isnt a viable option for the gaffer at all.

Don’t worry yourself, according to some pre-season means nothing, it’s all about minutes in legs.

Even though preseason matches have been against lower league opposition and no wins or signs of improvement, we are going to to rip the championship up “throughout the season”, all will come good ! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
they might be getting minutes but none of them look remotely fit or like they could last a game of competitive football at the moment.

Jesus Christ, you're happy with defence we've got? People just want to see improvement, not the same mediocre players season after season. Dont think that's too much to ask!
Maybe you should've underlined the word " new"
Even Alex Neil when interviewed what seems a good while back now, was surprised that Lindsay, Storey and Hughes were still here, given that they were his signings...........they are still here!
Does this happen at any other club?!
A back 3 that has been here since time began?!

I’m sure there will be a few reading this who would be able to tell you that I have thought Storey and Lindsay aren’t good enough for over five years.

Hughes gets lumped in the conversation with them because he’s been unfortunate enough to play with them for that long, even though he’s clearly a level above both of them.

The thread is titled " Hecky will walk" can someone put a timeline on it
the sooner the better for me, we have been outplayed all pre season by lower league teams and then scraped through against Huddersfield.

hecky is bereft of any ides about tactics, he is clueless and if he had any respect he would walk and tomorrow. Stockport, Bradford, Huddersfield absolutely abysmal tactics. How much have we wasted on lang?
Queue the abuse

Not much queue!!

Lets see him build another squad before calling for his head imo, it cant be an easy job being Preston manager. After all, we sold Thor, Mads, Whiteman lost Brady, Keane and many more. Last year he built a side of frees & loans, with the exception of Lang and we hit par. If this takeover ever happens, personally I'd like to see him get a crack at it, if he falls short then so he it. But its hardly a lucrative job being Preston manager, and who's going to replace him currently?

THIS
Is a sensible post (IMO).

He's here until the takeover ever happens. Then it's a case of days, weeks, months....

It's a stable championship job plodding around in mid table for eternity so far worse gigs he could be at and will probably be a purple patch in the season where team overachieves so his stats will look better.

Next job Lowe will probably end up in will be league two or bottom end league one so that's a big drop in career prospects and salary from what he had here so that is certainly something for PH to consider.

Pretty accurate that. Manager plods about.

I'd already forgotten Mads and Thor ever played for this club. Mads in particular was nice to watch but he flattered to deceive so often. Brady should've gone years back.

Devine will be much better over the long term as you'd expect at the price.

What PH has to do now is lower the average age of the starting 11 so Mills would be another very good signing.

I think after the last two windows PH has given up on being given the tools to actually mould this club into serious top 6 outfit. Last August he couldn't get in another forward on deadline day and last January Armstrong, Thor and Keane all went early January and it took a whole month pretty much to get in any replacements. That was when side were 4th so that is the mitigation and how much the hierarchy wanted promotion.

Flip side is new owners usually sack the present manager within a few months of taking over so can't blame him for sitting around and waiting to see if anything actually happens.

If the start of the season is a disaster and he's actually sacked by Hemmings and Penrose then guessing someone like Rob Edwards would be looked at. Not sure if he'd be interested though as think he turned down the Burnley job which was surprising.

There's plenty if we could be arsed looking, instead of appointing a steady Eddy.

If he goes back 4 and wingers and sticks to it, I'm well up for giving him time.

Sure the squad is mid table at best but making his sides entertaining, maybe bringing in another in the Offiah, Devine, Small mould for a potential sell on?

If he wants the fans on side and wants to be kept on post takeover he needs to do the above for me. If it's a back 5 first game gonna be a long season for him.

Can he get on with it? Any professional manager that thinks that back 4 is acceptable in a competitive game, and thinks 442 with Lang at striker and Devine at RM is a good option is never going to be a success
You could play 442 in a competitive match but not with Valentin andn Hughes as your full backs, Lindsay and Storey your centre halves and Thompson ‘supporting’ McCann in the middle.

Having said that, it would help if you’d used pre season to test it out.

It also might help if your goalkeeper could keep the ball in play.

It also might help if you didn’t spend all of last year’s budget on an injury prone player who spends more time on his backside than his feet.

7 offsides as well.
