Referee watch

Referee watch

Friday nights ref is Farai Hallam, his only game refereeing us was against Stoke at home last April. He awarded Stoke an extremely soft penalty if I remember correctly. What odds on Sheff Utd getting a penalty on Friday night!
Someone should hold a banner at the Town End. ‘Referee on watch …’

It's only my opinion, but I thought Clattenberg was shit. The other 2 were excellent.
Yes, Rennie was excellent and reffed what happened in front of him. Exceptionally fit and was always up with play, I still think some of the failures to play advantage can be due to a referee needing a breather.

He also gave a fair few red cards to opposition players which helped!

Perhaps it was his physical stature, but Rennie also seemed to command the respect of players. Something that is sadly lacking these days.

I used to do a bit of reffing back in the day whilst I had an injury and we were always told to call the player over to show a card. In my opinion, that helps with the respect and helps show authority.

The goon on Tuesday didn’t do that, he waved cards around with nobody near him and that even resulted in some thinking Small had got two cards. I’ll go further and say that for players like their number 14 who was cautioned just before he went off should get a second caution because he ranted and raved at the referee like a toddler for a long time. Obviously he’s not the first player to do so but they’d soon stop when second cautions were issued for a continuation of petulance and extreme dissent.

Remember when they tried moving the ball forward 10 yards for player dissent after a decision? The refs were so weak enforcing it that that lasted about 5 minutes. I honestly think a sin bin (blue card) would work where dissent is concerned. Stood by your fuming manager with your team down to ten men would surely put you off gobbing off to a ref.
Different level obviously but they use it at Penwortham Priory in the 7-a-side leagues and your team mates get proper pissed off with you when they have to do all your running for five minutes.

Michael Oliver and Anthony Taylor get a lot of stick but I actually think they’re both top, top refs. Probably the only two in the country that are elite. The rest of the prem refs are average and then below that it’s just a complete shitshow.

Maybe Lewis SMith had an off day, after all he has a Swan Love rating of 100%

Swans Love Rating Lewis Smith

The 4th official however is not a popular chap..."Interesting Fact: Madley is probably one of the most disliked referees by Swansea City fans thanks to several bewildering decisions that have cost the Swans dearly over recent years."

Did 11 years reffing down there Libertine, majority of lads wanted to play the game, some excellent players as well but by christ there was some wrong ones over the years!
Certainly quietened them down if they were sulking for 5 minutes out of a 40 minute match.

If ever there was an argument for var it was in tonight’s forest game

The ref missed a very clear penalty, even booking the forest player for diving. Called over var, penalty given

They’re human and miss stuff

You’ll have reffed me then at some point. We’ll leave it there 😂

Credit to the set up down there the nobheads never last long.
