If we signed Lewis we’d also have a natural left back potentially enabling a proper back 4
My point wasn’t that he’s solely wing back cover, rather that he’s an option if needed to cover. He was even sold that way to us when we signed him.How can you say Thompson is just cover. We’ve never seen him. Just like Pol and Vuck were discounted before they’d kicked a ball. We’ve never had this good a squad for ages imo.
On the bench tomorrow.... apparently!Heard talk of Jamal Lewis 🤔
I made a point earlier in the thread that if we played with a back 5 tomorrow we would not have any defensive cover on the bench…hopefully we do now.On the bench tomorrow.... apparently!
Will be good to have another body in.I made a point earlier in the thread that if we played with a back 5 tomorrow we would not have any defensive cover on the bench…hopefully we do now.
Looksl ike they've a few out for this one too, Archer possibly missing
Hope not. Hecky would still play 5 at the back. 🙄Might as well shorten the pitch tomorrow and play 7 a side.
Erm, because he’s a defensive midfielder and not a LWB?How can you say Thompson is just cover. We’ve never seen him. Just like Pol and Vuck were discounted before they’d kicked a ball. We’ve never had this good a squad for ages imo.
Stack up on enough injured wing-backs in the squad and hopefully enough will be available throughout the season 😄Well as good as Lewis has been in his career, he’s been blighted by injuries in recent years. Another one to add to the physio room in a few weeks I reckon.
Jamal Lewis is about as good as it gets in what is ultimately now a really poor market.
Natural athlete with bags of experience at this level despite still being mid to late twenties.
Concerns are him not having any game time of late and his loan at Watford recently, he was singled out as a particularly poor performer.
But, this is real dire straits. Vuk is a proper kick in the stones injury and coming back won’t be plain sailing given his game relies on acceleration and the nature of the injury. Typically our long term absentees are all wing back cover in Potts, Brady and even Thompson.
Yeah, totally agree on both points. As was Jebbo. Always hard to tell with them lot..proper basket case club.
But your right, his career has not gone smoothly in recent years. Highly regarded at one stage though.
Even if it's just someone to bring on when Small or Offiah are exhausted to try and prevent further injury, it has to be worth it. Sadly, it must mean we're not expecting anyone back imminently.
With the amount of times we’ve been screwed by either injuries or fatigue as a result of McCann going on international duty and being run into the ground, it’s nice to be able to reciprocate for a changeApologies for going off track but what a blow for NI losing McCann and Charles.
Small is clearly already in the ‘red zone’ which is why we had to flog Vuckevic last week. If we are not careful, this system combined with the number of games will break them all.Yeah, totally agree on both points.
On the latter, this is definitely the case. You look at Small now he already looks knackered, if we flog him to death and he keeps going on international duty, it's only a matter of time.
