Yes you could forsee some initial high octane performances and better results followed by an injury crisis and then backs to the wall (again). Workloads will still need to be managed. Anyway we travel hopefully.Give it a month
The turning point for Simpson was when Derby were top, we were second and CB said on SSN that BD had 2 teams in the top 2. Simpson lost the plot and the rest is history. That said, he'd of been found out sooner or later.Simpson was shocking. Was successful initially on the back of Davies' work ethics still ingrained in the squad. Simpson didn't like this and tried to change things. It was a disgrace not finishing in the play offs that season. Then the rot continued until Irvine came in.
😆😆😆Fernandez, archer, Millar, cannon and SVB (only two of them played at anyone time by the way.)
Hexkingbottom had KKH, Armstrong, Dobbin and Devine (but we will just forget those as he isn’t Scouse.)
Simpson coincided with an incredible uplift in north end fortunes if I recall, top of the table at Christmas maybe bullishit but is my memory plus thisSimpson was shocking. Well saidLet show some positivity !
I am more confident than I have been for many years on this appointment.
Because of all the negativity on the forum & also I came to the conclusion that most posters on here haven’t a flipping clue about picking a manager or buying players or running a football club.
That’s just my opinion & also the reason i think he will be a legend & in the top 3 managers in my live time of 65 + years of been a Nobber
I remember winning at Leicester. Sure Nash or someone mentioned about the Billy Davies effect still helping the squad. Couple of games later we went top drawing at home to Coventry and that was the end of November.Simpson coincided with an incredible uplift in north end fortunes if I recall, top of the table at Christmas maybe bullishit but is my memory plus this
Instagram These Football Times on Instagram: "It’s January 2007. Preston North End are drawing 0-0 against Crystal Palace in the FA Cup fourth round. The teams had just come out for the second half, and many supporters hadn’t yet taken their seats when David Nugent decides the game needs a goal. No need for teammates or anything. Don’t be daft. Dave can manage this solo."
It turned out to be shite but we were literally going up off the back of this. Were fucking miles off where this is.
Dichio up top wasnt scoring goals but was vital for the set up and mean those around him played better. After those comments he started ageymang with nugent instead. Who wasn't as good a team player, and also a good impact sub so weakened us in multiple ways. The turning point for Simpson was when Derby were top, we were second and CB said on SSN that BD had 2 teams in the top 2. I think that was Irvine, didn’t him and Parry come at nearly the same time or close to one another.Which manager signed the Balkan Stevie Gerrard?
Personally and it's my opinion.Would be interesting to hear what the view is now on John
Beck. A marmite one and I hated that time for the style of play. Also we didn’t progress from a low base. However I’m sure there’ll be fans who’ll say he shook the club up, got the Town End rocking, had some trainin, to Stock[og methods ahead of his time and brought in some good characters eg Gary Peters.
That is the problem with how the club has been run under the Hemings tenure, managers have had to find hidden gems by taking punts on players hoping. For every Nugent, DJ you end up with more rubbish that doesn’t work out and which eats up the budget.Yeah I just checked Parry and Šumulikoski came just 1 day apart, cost £800.000 just for both of them, that was a total waste of money.
Personally and it's my opinion.
Beck is right down there with Westley in my supporting time since Easter Monday 1963.
Discounting the Managers of the nightmare times when we had no money and looked like we could go out of Business if a consortium of around a dozen local businessmen hadn't put £10,000 (?) each in, Beck was an awful Manager.
Purely from the Footballing side he seems to get more recognition than he is due because he galvanised and did some really good work off the field (kudos for that).
He took a Team that was 'going nowhere' under Les Chapman but was in mid table obscurity - and got it relegated.
He even sold our best defender on deadline day because he was 'too small' to Stockport. Great decision that!
But then couldn't get us back up.
Awful Manager, awful Football although i suppose his 'record' won't look too bad because we where only in Division 4 and scaped enough together to get into the Play offs.
Fair enough. I still rate him above brown though. Keeping us up wasn't an impossible task and we were utterly abject under Brown. We had a better chance with Fergie Jr and keeping the loan players than we did with Brown in hindsight. It was his sacking and then his cunt of a dad cancelling the loans and telling Pulis to do the same. He was a fucking abysmal manager and we'd have 100% gone down.
It’s called “Bullshitting” in common parlance around here.Obviously he'll get good will from the fans like know other...I just hope the players buy into him & not just think of him as a lower league manager who has been sacked by the likes of mk dons comin into a squad who perhaps think they're elite level championship players &/or know that perhaps he wasn't first choice (that's the cynical side of me)
In regards to the LEP article about playing exciting football & making the opposition defend more, pressing etc i just hope that isn't the
Paul Heckingbottom "I don't want to be stood bored on the touchline"
Or
The Thomas Tuchel "In previous tournaments England seemed reactive rather than proactive"
I live in hope 🙏
Yes. We’ve made quite a few.Selling Flynn on deadline day (or at all) was one of the worst decisions we’ve ever made.
I missed off from my post, that sacking Les Chapman, because 'we where going nowhere' - wasn't MEANT to be downwards!Personally and it's my opinion.
