The vast majority of the audience today has invested in Ridsdale and Westley, via their season ticket purchase, last summer.
Those people voted-in Ridsdale and Westley and they continue to support R&W by using up their tickets.
For many going to the match is purely a habit and a ritual. As such the team's success is immaterial to their attendance. Therefore their views can be ignored as you would a creationist in a fossil study, when it comes to judging the way things are.
If I were PNE, I would take the crowd of 8,300 and cry tears of joy and amazement at that number, given the team has not won for 12 matches at Deepdale.
Why would a club make a change, with 8,300 turning up? If I were the club officials, I would assume that around 7,000 are still quite happy with the team performances.
Those remaining to boo Westley off seemed to number in the hundreds(if not dozens) rather than thousands. That's hardly an Arab spring riot.
My view at the 8,800 crowd is one of horror that so many choose to support the current set up at the club.
Hemmings agenda is being met 100%. Westley has cut costs, and Hemmings will be less out of pocket than in previous years. I don't blame Hemmings for that, and Westley has fulfilled that much needed role as hatchet man.
Hemming's agenda is not, however, aligned to that of the fans. I believe I'm right in suggesting that Hemmings was around long before BAXI. It was BAXI who instigated and created the best decade in living memory for most North Enders. Hemmings it wasn't! He was around (apparently for decades) prior to BAXI, and was part of the group who oversaw the managerial spells of Tommy Booth, Tommy Docherty, Brian Kidd, Jonathan Clark (player manager), Les Chapman, John McGrath (one fortuitous appointment in 10 years who was forced to sell his best players).
Does it come as no coincidence that North End, back under the clasp of Hemmings, are currently mirroring the club's state in 1983 and even 1992 (pre-BAXI)?
I suggest that any future appointments under the clasp of the Hemmings empire - however much we hear he "loves the club" will continue to be ill-informed and more akin to the blindfold child pinning the tail on the racehorse.
What is the end game? In my opinion, things will only change for the better when the club is bought out by another party.
