The vast majority of the audience today has invested in Ridsdale and Westley, via their season ticket purchase, last summer.
Those people voted-in Ridsdale and Westley and they continue to support R&W by using up their tickets.
For many going to the match is purely a habit and a ritual. As such the team's success is immaterial to their attendance. Therefore their views can be ignored as you would a creationist in a fossil study, when it comes to judging the way things are.
If I were PNE, I would take the crowd of 8,300 and cry tears of joy and amazement at that number, given the team has not won for 12 matches at Deepdale.
Why would a club make a change, with 8,300 turning up? If I were the club officials, I would assume that around 7,000 are still quite happy with the team performances.
Those remaining to boo Westley off seemed to number in the hundreds(if not dozens) rather than thousands. That's hardly an Arab spring riot.
My view at the 8,800 crowd is one of horror that so many choose to support the current set up at the club.
Hemmings agenda is being met 100%. Westley has cut costs, and Hemmings will be less out of pocket than in previous years. I don't blame Hemmings for that, and Westley has fulfilled that much needed role as hatchet man.
Hemming's agenda is not, however, aligned to that of the fans. I believe I'm right in suggesting that Hemmings was around long before BAXI. It was BAXI who instigated and created the best decade in living memory for most North Enders. Hemmings it wasn't! He was around (apparently for decades) prior to BAXI, and was part of the group who oversaw the managerial spells of Tommy Booth, Tommy Docherty, Brian Kidd, Jonathan Clark (player manager), Les Chapman, John McGrath (one fortuitous appointment in 10 years who was forced to sell his best players).
Does it come as no coincidence that North End, back under the clasp of Hemmings, are currently mirroring the club's state in 1983 and even 1992 (pre-BAXI)?
I suggest that any future appointments under the clasp of the Hemmings empire - however much we hear he "loves the club" will continue to be ill-informed and more akin to the blindfold child pinning the tail on the racehorse.
What is the end game? In my opinion, things will only change for the better when the club is bought out by another party.

Good for you. I'm sure you aren't alone but that doesn't mean we should accept what is currently happening at our club.

I honestly think that the route of the current lack of goals and hence results has more to do with the fact that the budget has been slashed and we have the players, and particularly lack of clinical goalscorers, we can afford. Westley has to work with free transfers mainly. What can any other manager do with nofunds? Biily d certainly would want money to spend. Give the current crop a season to gell.

Surely Hemmings is embarrassed by PNEs performances under Westley especially alongside all the.off.field shenanigans. Surely? Surely he realises the.downturn of.the club since his takeover. Surely he.wont want to be remembered as the.man who killed north end? Surely he.cares.enough to take decisive action? Surely? Surely my phone shouldn't be putting full.stops.all over the.place? Surely?

Bollocks. We've no-one of the quality of JT, Brazil and Skilful Bob inthe current squad.

Theres a few Bob McNeils, Nigel Keens and Simon Gibsons tho 🙁

The difference though staff was for what ever reason we still enjoyed, I think watching North End, do we get the same from turning up at Deepdale with the present management team in place, do we f@ck !

Two words to describe PNE at the moment, with regards to management.

"Rudderless Ship"!!!

Thats what we seem to be unfortunately, with no direction or leadership from the top it would appear almost apathy it would seem.

This has been going on now for the last 5 years or so, and we have seen managers come and go. You could say that at the time the appointments of Ferguson, Brown and Westley were decent at the time. None of these managers have been really backed to any extent have they?

Ever since Irvine got potted, our managers have been expected to polish a turd to be quite honest, and working with one arm tied behind their back.

We have such limited squad depth it's unreal. Do you think Sheffield Utd would be playing a kid at left back if the manager had fallen out with the experienced one. Doubt it somehow.

The next manager will also be another Westley, ie someone who thinks we are a fantastic club when he joins, and then soon realises what a pile of shit we are from the top.

I do have a lot of sympathy for our managers, because the club is quite simply in freefall and has been for the last 5 years.

Hemmings is supposed to be a very shrewd man, but when it comes to owning his football club it appears he has no idea what to do with it.

For what it's worth we got done today by a shit team who got VERY LUCKY.

Westley was right in his interview and we deserved to win the game today. It didn't happen. Bad time today for us, but these things happen in football unfortunately.

Which manager of any ability would want to work in this environment????

Perhaps concentrated action against Ridsdale ie chants/banners RIDSDALE OUT would make him realise that supporting Westley is beginning to have an adverse effect on his own position - thus forcing his hand

Agreed. The ritualistic types are not bothered by the performance. They just love the ritual. They are doing nothing wrong at all. But the effect is to perpetuate/fund nutty regimes.

I agree something definitely needs to be done, also agree that Ridsdale should be targeted as well as Westley. I think Hemmings (unfortunately) might be a step too far though, doesn't seem realistic.

Not turning up will mean there is even less money coming into the club and hence less chance of signing the decrnt players we need

Correct, the only way forward is a blanket boycott - unfortunately I fear that there are too many sheep amongst the PNE faithful to make this course of action effective.

Incorrect - I will be fucked if I will stop watching a club I have watched for 45 years because of a clueless imposter at the helm...one way or another he will be gone soon enough.

So the huge majority of fans are sheep eh...fucking pathetic

To be fair, Danny has a point - the apathy and the sheep mentality of our supporters means that very little has been done since our dowanward spiral started a few years ago.

If people want action then they need to up their game - I mean PSG apparently burnt their bridges with the club after Simpson was potted and I'm not sure what power/support the recently formed South Ribble Supporters Group have, but maybe if action is to be taken it needs to be more than a feeble protest.

Granted they have a far larger fanbase than us, but the Manchester fans certainly up their game when something close to their affections is at stake,

If that show Westley the red card thing happens, Im off to support Blackpool even those gay fuckers wouldn't be that pathetic.

+1
I shall apply 1% of my energies on westerly, 1% on ridsdale and 98% on hemmings

In failure it's best to look at constants and root causes

Westlerly is a symptom

I'd go for the the actual root of the illness then eradicate that

Spot on without a doubt. Hemmings ever present through Preston's darkest hours. He has stated as much (or someone has paraphrased him) - with great pride too.
He didn't do much then, and he doesn't seem to have learned anything since. He allowed Derek Shaw to milk the club dry for 6 years or so, without noticing.
Then the credit crunch happened, and ooops, "I want my money back.."

Have I missed something......crowds down about 12%.......huge majority ?????????

First day of the season - 10,300. Today - 8,300. That's more than 12% down. I wonder how many season ticket holders will renew come the summer if Westley is still here? You only have to read comments on here to see that 8,300 was nothing like the actual number of people in attendance today (given the official figure includes season ticket holder whether they attend or not). Many are already voting with their feet and this number will only continue to grow the longer Westley remains at the club. To try and pretend the crowds are not dropping at an alarming rate is ridiculous.

Ronnie Hildersley and Oshor William would have looked like Cruyff and Neeskens next to this current set of cattle.
